I've been coming here off and on since 2005. It has changed, and not in a good way. 6 months ago, my boyfriend and I got food poisoning from the uncooked chicken in a sandwich. Most recently, the wait for a simple BLT was over an hour.
But, what sealed it for me, was the fact that my dog, who happens to be a Pittie, was not welcomed, or even given a chance. The second I walked in with him, I was told that I wasn't allowed to have him inside. I told the woman behind the counter that I was just going to order and go back outside with him. She said that was fine. I was about to order and then the other young woman behind the counter screamed at me that he had to leave. I explained to her that I was about to order and then going back outside. After I ordered, I noticed that there were a few smaller dogs behind me in line and nothing was said to them!
I then went to pick up a few cookies about a week ago. Again, the line was crazy long, but I was hopeful. The woman in front of me had a small yappy dog, but she was asked kindly if it was a service dog. She said yes (no proof was needed), and she was left alone. My boy is actually a certified emotional support animal. So, who knows what their actual pet policy is, or if they even have one.
I've also been told that they're not good to their employees. So because of this, Harborview Market lost me as a customer. No need to reply. Hopefully, you'll do better.
To the owner,
If you actually read my review, you'd know that my dog is a real service dog with documentation (but, was never given the common courtesy). It's clear that your employees aren't aware of what your policy is. Are you really trying to tell me that three other dogs snuck by, but mine was the only one that was seen? Since you mentioned things not being hygienic or safe ~ when was the last time your refrigerators were cleaned? Why do you leave your trays of cookies out for everyone to walk by and spread germs? And those are just two examples.
So, this is exactly why I specifically said a response was not needed because it's basically the same b* you’ve given people throughout your negative reviews. Do everyone a favor, just own it and move on. I already have...in friendlier, more affordable, and higher quality...
Read moreThis is my first time visiting this establishment. I paid for the ‘A.M. special’ this included two eggs made your way, some bacon and a choice of a pair of french toast or pancakes. I also ordered multigrain toast on the side and a large coffee. Which came close to $18.00 and a $4.00 tip. The cashier was great. Then from there it all went downhill. She gave me the cup size I order and pointed the self serve coffee station along with a handheld number stand. Which I was okay with. That’s when the interaction stop. I was left standing there to figured out my own seating and make my own coffee. As I scanned the room it was a given that you either share tables or get one for yourself when one becomes available. Since there was no seating available inside the market. I was force to eat outside in the winter cold. Thank goodness for the sun being out to warm my back and clear sky. So silly as it seems. I was the only person eating outside. My breakfast was served. But where’s my side of multigrain toast? I was given French toast instead of pancakes. The only thing that was right was the eggs and a few ‘bottom of the barrel’ bacon that was crumbled up on my plate. No offer of syurp or a courtesy that a space open up inside. Just a server putting a plate in front of me with silver ware, no napkins and dashing out of my sight before I can ask him about my missing and wrong food order. I talked to the cashier inside and she made me wait for quite some time and forgot to talk to whomever is in charge. So yes. My meal went cold with birds eating from it while I waited to get feedback. I realized that this is a place you pick up your dirty dishes put them in a bin. Like a cafeteria and as I re-scanned the room. Low and behold lots of free space to sit. (Again a courtesy could be given to a person who’s out eating alone in the winter cold). I left disappointed and not giving a thought to go back for a second chance. From a new customer who will never come back to dine. Thank you for making this...
Read moreA real GEM of a restaurant is right under my nose and it took 40 years for me to find it. Harborview market located in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport is a very unique, charming and above all a MUST experience everyone in Ffld County should try. A nostalgic trip to the past accompanied by delectable menu selections creating the perfect setting for a comfortable, relaxing and interesting dining experience. Love at first sight. Most ot the reviews are right on point so I will avoid being redundant. As a history buff that loves everything 'old' I cannot recommend HarborView Market enough! A "Blast from the past" permanently affixed to my psyche spending my hard earned money not in Diners, Fast Food joints or trendy overpriced "FOO FOO" establishments, like Starbucks for example, but my time and money is always well spent at Harborview Market. The owners Michelle and her husband do their own baking(sorry, idk his name) freshly made croissants and cookies that are so delicious one wouldn't mind traveling a distance to get'em. Personally I travel 10 miles round trip each time. Michelle is the epitome of 1st class business owner. Followed by her exuberant & wonderful personality Creating a staff of dynamite people who will kill you with kindness. Forever making you and me a customer for life. Since the 19th century Harborview has been in business and I hope it out lives me. Thank you MICHELLE for...
