I have been a customer of Mil Sabores since they opened their first location (2043 Fairfield Ave) but after my experience today in the second location (2925 Fairfield Ave), I will not be back. Let me just start by saying that I have always been kind and respectful with staff when I call to place and pick up my order. Today was a different experience. I called to place an order and was told it would be ready in about 30 minutes. Given that I was running errands, I arrived to pick up my order about 1 hour after placing the order. I was informed by a young man that it would be ready in another 10 minutes and if I wished to pay since I was there already. My sister handed him the card and we left to walk around the area. We came back 10 minutes later and I walked in to ask if my order was ready. I was told it would be another 10 minutes because they were busy. The young lady who took the order over the phone proceeded to turn around and said the following with an attitude: âI told you when you placed the order that it would be 30 minutes.â To which I then replied, âYes, but itâs been about 1 hour.â She tried to play it off by saying and pointing at the tables, âSorry but weâre busy.â I looked around and I would like to say the following: only about half of the tables were occupied and most people already had their food. Other people were at the bar having drinks. I was told it would be another 10 minutes. I again left and walked around the area with the two other people I was with. We came back after more than 10 minutes and the food was still not ready and therefore had to wait about 6 more minutes. From the interaction between the two young ladies, it appeared there was a lack of communication because one of them didnât even know the order was already paid for. I placed my order at 4:13 (I checked to verify the time I called) and was handed the food at 5:29 (more than 1 hour and 30 minutes). I always tip (15-20%) but not this time because of the way staff treated us. I would also like to add that, the last time I ordered, I got expired red salsa. I didnât complain and my family ate the food with the green salsa they provided. I will be telling my friends and family about this experience because I had originally recommended this place. Again, I will not be back which is sad for us because we really loved the food. My family and I, however feel that customer service was better at their...
Read moreA night that was supposed to be special turned into a huge disappointment
I came to this restaurant because my friendâs daughter chose it to celebrate her birthday. I drove over an hour from Stamford on a Friday night, November 7th, expecting to share a joyful evening with people I care about. Instead, I ended up feeling frustrated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed.
When we arrived, even though there was a reservation, we had to wait another full hour just to be seated. No explanation, no apologyâjust standing there, hungry and confused.
Once seated, things didnât get better. Our food came out at completely different times, with the last plate arriving almost 30 minutes after the first. It was disorganized and felt like we didnât matter.
The worst part for me was the food I ordered: pabellĂłn criollo, a dish I know well and was really looking forward to. What I got was a plate so salty and over-seasoned that I could barely eat it. I told the waitress and asked kindly if it could be taken off the bill. She said it wasnât possible because only the manager could make that decisionâand he wasnât there.
That answer felt like a slap in the face. I work with TOAST Tab, the same restaurant system they use, and I know for a fact thatâs not true. It felt like they were just brushing me off, hoping Iâd accept it quietly.
I didnât. I had no choice but to leave without paying for my dishâbecause being charged for something inedible, with no solution offered, was just unacceptable.
Itâs really sad when a night that shouldâve been filled with joy becomes a memory of frustration. I donât usually leave reviews like this, but people deserve to know...
Read moreIf price gouging had a nickname it would be Mil Sabores. From what was a fantastic food truck, to a small restaurant on the corner, had turned into an example of how greed and exploitation of customers with bad spending habits has kept this business going. From quarterly menu price changes to the revolving door of miserable looking staff, they have lost focus on what was beautiful about this restaurant from the get go. A well established Mexican/Venezuelan restaurant serving all the comfort food of being Latino. The food has and always will be incredible, but it is impossible to continue supporting an establishment that has raised prices nearly every 6 - 10 months. A birria pizza went from $28 dollars in 2023 to $38 today. An arepa from 12 to 16 dollars, most items raise by 5 dollars in less than 2 years is insane. It makes you appreciate restaurants that have raised prices by actual cost and not some random number. Ex. Hole in the wall in Fairfield added an extra charge when eggs skyrocketed with a notice, and the moment prices went down it notified that theyâve decreased the prices. As a customer this absolutely surprised me in the best way anf now I will be a lifelong patron. What feels most exploitive about this is that the Instagram is updated nearly everyday yet has a pinned menu from 2 years ago. Iâve enjoyed seeing this business grow and having recommend it to nearly every friend and family member for the past 5 years , I can no longer support it. I wish it well and am sure it will continue to have success but it is still...
