Karibbean Flava — Restaurant in Bridgeport

To start off I have never written a food review in my entire life but this place made me write my first. The atmosphere seemed fine even though I ordered to go the service was also fine but the food….im not sure if the normal wasn’t there or if this was a off day for the restaurant but I have had carribean food from Waterbury to Jamaica but this place goes into the books for one of the worst Caribbean food I have ever had in my life. I ordered jerk pork and rice when I got home opened the lid and thought to myself I have never seen jerk pork look like this I tasted it and it was beef I was kind of disappointed that they got my order wrong because it’s kind of hard to get jerk pork where I’m from but I guess it was my fault not checking before I left because I know how they get at these type of restaurants. The beef was ok I guess nothing too special a lot of bones for some reason though but the rice though. Worst rice I have ever had in my life I’m not a picky eater at all but when I say I had to literally spit it out on the first bite because of the taste but I do have to say it was pretty impressive how they could make rice so unbelievably bland. It tasted like they put to much water into it and when it was done and they saw the water at the bottom and said “eh it’s probably still ok” and closed the lid and don’t even get me started on the mango pineapple drink. This whole order felt like 2 big middle fingers in my face and I don’t appreciate it. Normally I would go back and get a refund but the store is so far from me that it wouldn’t be worth the drive. Tried this restaurant for the first time & was blown away by the fresh, delicious food. I ordered the Escovitch fish & it exceeded my expectations. The ingredients are fresh and high quality. The fish was not over seasoned, rather it was well seasoned with fresh seasonings (rosemary etc). Also it was not overcooked, it was perfectly flaky. It’s not easy to find a restaurant that exercises care in its food preparation, so grateful to discover this hidden gem on Uber Eats!!! Also, what stood out was the generous portions, excellent food presentation and packaging (see attached photos) Indeed this is the best Escovitch Fish I’ve had… so thankful for the perfect seasoning and perfect flaky fish. It’s challenging to find restaurants that are able to prepare healthy dishes, so thankful for Karribean Flava. They’ve earned a repeat customer....

First time after attending a evening church event in BPT and had the taste for Jamaican food at 1030pm. Well though it was on the other side of town, it was worth the drive. The food was very flavorful. The curry chicken was really good and the jerk chicken was very good as well. A tad but salty tho but still tasty. The service was friendly and had a sweet personality.
