I'm used to 8 years of China Ming on Success Ave in Stratford (pretty much bridgeport still), and each time I order from Peking, I am more disappointed than the last time. Here is what stands out to me about the food I have ordered here, and there are pros and cons which I will include:
The Lo Mein typically orders with this motor oil dark appearance and the noodles are less than enjoyable.
The fried rice has achieved less and less flavor, with my most recent order being a few preparations away from being white rice - the white rice is more impressive and consistently done for being plain cooked rice.
The fried chicken wings plain, a favorite of mine, is always delicious and hot and crispy.
Any dough they use at all is sweet - like pastry sweet. It's very odd, even their fried chicken has a sweet taste. Crab rangoon is sweet, egg rolls are sweet, fried wonton is sweet. Why? If they fried french fries, it would be sweet i'm sure.
Their General Tso was good. The chicken is always a bit tough, but this has been my experience with all General Tso.
For your particular tastes, you must be very selective about what you order. Much is not to my liking, and does not hold well if you don't eat it when you buy it. Again, I am more disappointed each time I order, to the point I am likely not to order from here for months in favor of other things, and with another disappointing set of food, I will cross this location off entirely.
If any of the management read this and take offense, I recommend touring chinese places with the scientific method in mind. There is much to be desired with your food. Whoever offers entirely high praise has no palate. The one star is for my disappointment. I've lived here two years now, and finally, I'd rather...
Read moreI have to edit my review because I was so blown away by my most recent order, that the soft praise from my prior experience, simply doesn't do this place justice.
I will reiterate though: This is the best Chinese food in Connecticut. I mean that wholeheartedly. The food is always fresh, cooked to perfection and seasoned so well that even when I'm full from eating it, and my pants' button has to be undone, I can find another reason to have another bite and not hate myself.
It seems unlikely that such consistent quality and customer service can come from the cold wasteland that Bridgeport Connecticut definitely is, but believe me, Peking Restaurant is the gleaming light at the end of the tunnel. If all the Chinese places in the world disappeared, and Bridgeport had nothing other than rampant crime and a 99% chance that you would be killed if you passed through it, I would take the risk and try to get some of Peking's Chinese food. It is that amazing.
As someone who isn't religious, Peking has made me see the light. God bless this place and the extraordinary chefs that cook these exquisite meals I eat when my soul is in desperate need of comfort or when I'm just trying to treat my taste buds right.
I doubt I would eat better Chinese in China, let alone anywhere else in the whole world. These folks nailed it. I will go to my grave with a container of General Tso's and House Fried Rice. If I end up falsely accused of a heinous crime and placed on death row, Peking will be my final meal.
10/5 Stars. Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Fantastic restaurant.

Read moreI placed an order with this restaurant on July 31st 2019
I received my meal through doordash
I ordered veggie lo mein, Hunan shrimp, pepper steak and onions, and a pork egg roll.
Veggie lo mein is the darkest lo mein I have seen, and impossibly salty! I would like to hope the cook responsible for this accidentally dumped an entire bottle of soy sauce into their wok, and that this is not actually how you serve lo mein in your restaurant!
Hunan shrimp overcooked
Pepper steak and onions, has about five pieces of the most rubbery beef I've ever tasted; in the entire dish!
The egg rolls were your only saving grace, I can safely assume based on their uniformity you did not make them they came in Frozen.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a small child with...
