This was my second visit to this store since it opened. i don't frequent it because there are so many other stores cheaper. This is a store I'd only go to for quick, last minute needs. Tonight I needed bread. I hopped in and first section is produce. I noticed some fresh slices red onion. Grabbed that real quick. Turned and saw some green plantain, hmmm,I haven't made tostones in a while, lemme pick up a couple those bad boys. Meat, proteins next... grabbed a whole tilapia fish...I can bake it once it defrosted. I normally get them from pricrite, but it's good to know they have them here too! Seasoning...hmmmm.... such a great variety. Stuff you won't see in many other stores. I was intrigued by the ORANGE pepper! Has to get it along with a spicy curry powder. By now my arms are full, and still no bread! Finally get to aisle, they don't have any low calorie, low carb bread, but I found a soft, fresh pack of chaves bakery portugese rolls. Grabbed them up. It was probably a bit past 8pm, 3 registers open. A girl waved me to her register. I was rung out quickly. No issues at all. I plan to go back to more thoroughly check out those seasonings. Im always looking for...
Read morePretty much what you'd expect from a low budget, hood grocery store, so I won't rate too harshly. I like that the store is stocked in a very simple fashion. I also like that oftentimes I can find items that are unexpected like Sister Schubert's Yeast Rolls or Vlasic Dill Pickles for the low low. On the other hand, Save-a-Lot is seriously going to have to find a better way to deal with customers like myself who bring in our own reusable bags because they way it goes now, you have to leave your bags with the security guard at the front door and then get out of line at some point while you're at the register. Unfortunately, the timing is always awkward and then the cashiers don't communicate with the guard to make the experience go smoothly at all. One guard ended up falsely accusing my BF of trying to steal, recently, because of this. Also, I wrote to the store a few months back in regards to a recipe change with one of my favorite snacks and I got a response, which is great. However, I was told that they would send me a $3 coupon for my troubles which I never received. I didn't ask for that and they didn't follow through. Bad...
Read moreUpdate: What a quick decline. A store that I was in love with just 6 months ago, is now one of the worst grocery stores in Bridgeport. I am appalled bye the changes I've witnessed. The staff members have changed, and the store has suffered because of it. Gone is the good customer service, fresh produce, and quick lines. I witnessed the current manager getting high on life in the stores parking lot. The incompetency level is pretty high too. SAVE- YOURSELF- A- LOT, of trouble and shop elsewhere. Unless you enjoy waiting in one line with 20 people infront after a long day at work. Not to mention holding all your groceries because there are no carriages or carts in the entire store. Oh yes... And bring your own bags, they don't have ANY ...not even for sale.
OLD POST: Like the name states, you will see a massive difference in your grocery bill. Always fresh produce. This place stays well stocked with the essentials. Great for a grab and go,...
