While coming off the ferry and looking for a quick bite before continuing our journey, I came across this Pakistani restaurant. It does not look like much from the outside and feels more like a hole-in-the-wall spot, but in the best way possible. The reviews were solid, so I decided to give it a try, and I am very glad I did.
Ambience: The place itself is simple, with no-frills décor and lighting that could definitely be improved. It is not the kind of restaurant you go to for atmosphere, but more for the food. Still, upgrading the décor and lighting would make the experience even better.
Service: We were warmly welcomed and served by a young lady originally from Multan, who was friendly, efficient, and quick to bring out our meal. Food was served within 5–10 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise.
Food: I ordered the chicken karahi, butter naan, samosa chaat, kheer, and chai. Honestly, I was not expecting much given the modest setup, but the flavors were outstanding. The chicken karahi was packed with authentic spices, the naan was fresh and buttery, and the kheer was a satisfying finish. The highlight for me was the samosa chaat, which tasted very authentic with the right balance of chutneys, spice, and crunch. Everything had that true homemade flavor. The portion sizes were generous, and the price point was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food.
Notes:
They only accept cash, so plan ahead. Luckily, there is an ATM next door if needed.
They also have a small prayer room available if you want to quickly pray, which is a thoughtful and convenient touch you don’t often find in restaurants.
The food here was so good I could even see myself ordering it for catering.
Overall: Tasty Halal Restaurant is an unassuming spot with phenomenal food. If you are near the ferry and craving authentic South Asian flavors, this place is absolutely worth stopping by. The décor could use some work, but the food and hospitality more than make up for it. I would happily come back the next time I am...
Read moreIf I could I wouldn’t even give one star ! I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience . The level of hygiene was absolutely unacceptable — the place was visibly dirty, with no effort made to maintain even basic cleanliness standards. On top of that, the food itself was far from sanitary or appetizing. For the prices they charge, which are outrageously high, you’d expect a far better environment and quality of service.
I spent $57 on my order, and despite that, I overheard one of the employees speaking negatively about me simply because I didn’t place an even larger order. That kind of unprofessional behavior is completely out of line. It’s incredibly frustrating to support a business only to be disrespected by the very people you’re paying.
The overall atmosphere was unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Instead of focusing on providing decent customer service, the staff seemed more interested in gossiping and badmouthing customers. If this is how they treat their customers, I can’t imagine how they handle anything behind the scenes.
I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone unless significant changes are made in terms of cleanliness, pricing, and staff...
Read moreI LOVE this place! Everything is finger-licking delicious and the restaurateurs are very friendly. They're always open to helping customers with menu suggestions which make the experience even better. They have some of the fluffiest naan I've ever had in my life. They also have a good variety of rotating vegetarian dishes. I only wish they kept some of their previous menu items like the Mixed Grill and Chicken Malai Kabob. I have favorite dishes, but I want to go back and try some of their newer menu items. I think they hide the kulfi ice creams way in the back for people trying to diet or something, but my visit isn't complete without my heavenly malai...
