I really wanted to fall in love with this place, but instead, I'm left wondering what could have been. Here's the short version: good food, unremarkable coffee, and poor service. Here's the more detailed version: my wife and I were in the area and wanted a local breakfast, so we gave this place a try. Even at 11 am on a Friday, the place was still packed with the breakfast crowd. We got one of the few open tables, and were quickly struck by just how loud the place was. The high ceilings turn the small restaurant into an echo chamber, and I found that I couldn't have a conversation with my wife sitting across a small table from me without raising my voice to a pitch I'd be uncomfortable with elsewhere. Our server took her time getting to us, which was a sign of things to come. Along with menus, we were presented with a small card that warned us that on weekends the wait for a table could be up to an hour so in the future we should consider the no wait app. Good tip. The card went on to advise that when they are busy food wait times will be extensive because they make every item from scratch. While I'm appreciative that the food isn't just reheated product from the food service company, I feel like guilting me into accepting a long wait for my food just because it's made to order is in bad taste (pun not intended, but appropriate none the less.) After a bit, our server returned to take our order. I went with a western omelette, home fries, and coffee. My wife did the vegetarian omelette, home fries, and we agreed to split a waffle. Eventually, our server returned with my coffee. Apparently, it's from a local roaster. Also, apparently, they're not very interested in you getting to drink very much of it because it's served in the smallest restaurant coffee mug I've ever been seen. Now, I wouldn't make this such an issue if our server left me a hoddle of coffee, or made a point to keep the mug filled, but in the end I only earned one refill from our server. The coffee itself was rather bland, lacking the character of the the rest of the items on the menu. Eventually, our food arrived, after my wife and I basically stared at each other for fifteen minutes because we couldn't talk to each other without shouting or repeating ourselves twice because of the noise. The western omelette was good, albeit a little over seasoned, but the star of the plate was the home fries. Cut multi color potatoes: red, and Peruvian, sweet potatoes and peppers. Tasty indeed. My wife liked her vegetarian omelette, and we both enjoyed the classic waffle we split. It was soft and fluffy with a slight malty note. The house syrup is served in a liquor bottle with a speed pourer. It is as thin as water, not thick like syrup, but the maple flavoring is there so I won't object to its consistency. Our server only checked on us once, and by the time she stopped by I had already finished my coffee and had to drink my wife's water with my meal. She offered a refill, which I accepted, but by then it wasn't really necessary as I was finished eating. We then proceeded to wait at least fifteen more minutes for her to return to check in again and offer my wife a box for her leftovers and to bring the bill. Meanwhile, to our right, a young couple who had arrived about ten minutes after us was just about to leave, as they had had a different server who had their orders in, out and checked on them multiple times throughout the meal. So, perhaps the service isn't all bad. The loud atmosphere, poor service, and condescending note about extended food wait times because their cuisine is so good really rubbed me the wrong way. However, the food IS good. Which does deserve credit and mention. While I won't be back, perhaps your experience will be better if you visit when the restaurant is quieter, have a competent server, and temper your expectations about the coffee.

This location is starting to show its age, but everything came out pretty quickly and the service was friendly and fast. We’d expected a bit more out of the waffles for a place that surrounds its menu around it, but the waffles themselves were no different than the standard batter waffles you get at a hotel with a waffle flipper. The difference is that they top them with stuff. That said, the toppings could have saved it, but the Benny waffle, served with lump crab meat was a tad watery and had no flavor and had long green onions on it that didn’t cut easily with the worn cutlery we’d had. The mimosa drinks were served in thick glass diner style juice cups that were starched up, and the drink itself was so so. My husband had biscuit and gravy waffles, which is was happy with until he got to the eggs. Not sure if they poach them all in the same water and just don’t clean it out? But he’d mentioned they had a funky taste. Nothing was bad, it just wasn’t that good.

The dishes were so dirty. The food was delicious, but was it worth it if I got sick later? When I told them that our dishes were dirty, they said they would tell management. The forks, dirty. The plates, dirty. The coffee mugs, also dirty. No one came and acknowledged it. No one apologized. This place was very dirty, garbage all over the floors. They totally ignored us after we complained about the dishes. Look at the picture of my stained and dirty coffee mug. Coffee doesn't stain that bad after one use. It was never washed to begin with. This place is a dump, and I will never go back and will make sure I tell everyone what we went through so they don't have to endure the same. Don't waste your time unless you like eating off of dirty dishes.

Waffles Inc. is a fantastic experience that you're missing out on if you haven't been. The decor of the place is great, with high quality food photos placed on the walls. While the place is small, there are enough seats to fit a reasonable sized party, but I would suggest going with a party of 2-4 to avoid wait times. The coffee here is fantastic. They used to have good coffee, but something must have changed because now its great coffee! The waffles are the front and center item to get here, and they even have a monthly special to mix it up. Both savory and sweet options are wonderfully done. Don't be off put by the idea of a savory waffle, because if you order one, you'll likely find out you like them more than the sweet. Some people may be off put by the slightly higher than normal costs. An average breakfast will probably run you around $10. "I can get two eggs, toast and juice for $5 down the street!" Maybe so, but this experience is much more creative. I can make eggs at home, but I can't make a cheesecake waffle or orange and nutella crepe. This is what makes waffles inc. such a special experience. While you could just eat eggs or a bowl of cereal at home, here they make breakfast special and something to look forward to. A fantastic location well worth the...

Finally visited this restaurant after hearing good reviews from friends and family, but honestly it was extremely disappointing. We waited about 20 minutes for a table after being told it would be a 5-10 minute wait. Once our orders were taken, we didn't see the waitress again until our food was done, about 45 minutes later. We watched larger tables that walked in after us get waited on, served, and leave in the time it took us to get our food. The waitress told us that our food was hot, and to be careful as it had just come out. When taking a bite, both of our plates were cold, and even if they hadn't been, the taste of the food itself was very middlegrade. I had gotten the sausage and gravy waffle, and the sausage had a weird aftertaste like you get from being reheated over and over again, the waffles themselves were very dry, and everything was cold. My partner got the waffles and chicken, and the chicken tasted good, but again, was cold. I had my dish taken off the bill as I only ate a couple bites, and still left a decent tip, but honestly we just couldn't wait to pay and leave. Probably won't be coming back, it was just extremely disappointing after hearing such good things to have such a...
