Delicious Food, But a Disappointing Experience
Let me start by saying the food here is delicious. Our first takeout order was fantastic, and it was so good we came back again the very next day. The quality of the food itself is not the issue.
The problem arose on that second visit when I ordered the Nachos Supreme to go. I asked to add chicken to the order and was told it would be an additional $5. I agreed, expecting all the original ingredients (which included beef) plus the added chicken.
But when I got home—18 miles away—I discovered there was no beef at all. When I called to explain that the beef had been left off our of the order, the same young man who took my order informed me, without hesitation, that adding chicken meant replacing the beef, and the $5 upcharge was for that substitution less the beef! Huh!?!?
This was never explained to me at the time of ordering, and I never requested a substitution—I clearly asked to "ADD chicken."
I was then told, flatly, "That's our policy."
I left that call feeling disappointed and frankly baffled. Mistakes happen—that’s understandable. But what’s hard to accept is the rigid, dismissive attitude that followed, with no effort to make things right or even acknowledge the confusion.
It’s frustrating to see any business rely on a “that’s just how we do it” approach rather than listening to their customers and using common sense.
I'm this case, a simple clarification or a willingness to correct a misunderstanding could have kept a loyal customer. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen here.
I told the young man, "I will never be back to this...
Read moreI was greeted by a very polite young man when entering, but since I arrived before my party I decided to go grab a drink in the bar where I sat for 10 minutes waiting for anyone to serve me despite the restaurant being very slow. The bartender? was clearly irritated that I asked what was on tap even though the taps are actually in the back of the restaurant and not where I could read the offerings. I paid with cash, because I wanted to save the restaurant a credit card surcharge for a single beer and make sure I tipped the bartender before going to my table. She proceeded to go to the kitchen front and loudly keep asking who had change for a $20. I finally walked over and said that I was happy to pay with a credit card, but was ignored. Then the cook?, dripping sweat, came and stood in front of a large fan near the door to cool off? Gross. He then told the waitress he wanted to buy a soda for the "cute young girl" in a family party sitting in the restaurant. Creepy. My group arrived and all interactions with the waitress were exceedingly short and rude. She did not return to the table to ask about our meals or ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. She returned when I meal was over with checks and boxes. I ordered a Combo #11 and all the food tasted the same and blandly one note. I have been to the Raymond A La Mexicana and enjoyed the experience, but definitely will NOT go back to...
Read moreThe reason I couldn't give them a higher rating is because the past FOUR times we ordered take out from them, they messed up our order! And the mess up is that we either got one or more completely different entrees than we ordered, or one or two things were left off the order even though they were on the receipt and we paid for them. I didn't feel like getting back in the car, driving over there and dealing with telling them what was missing, since we had already opened the dishes and started our meal, so I don't know how cooperative they would have been in clearing up the order. I have decided that from now on, when we get take out from them, I'll double check the order BEFORE I leave. On a more positive note, most of the time we are happy with the food, although it is never consistent in quality. I don't know if it's dependent on who is cooking at the time, but their recipes are not exact. We do love their Parma Dip! It's a queso type cheese sauce with beans...
