Stopped in here for a quick dinner and a few drinks the other evening. I must say, I have heard all kinds of stuff about this place so I finally had to pop in and check it out for myself.
If I had to do it over again, I probably wouldn't have chosen to stop in on a Friday night as this place is pretty tiny, and it was definitely packed. I would say that a majority of the people come here are what is known as "regulars", which is fine with me and just an overall observation.
This place is clean (including but not limited to the bathrooms, which is always a plus) and the staff is friendly. Service was quick despite how busy it was at the time. The best part about this place, was the food. It was very good and we only got basic things like a burger, fries, and some boneless wings (which actually appeared to be more like chicken nuggets, but regardless they were delicious). They don't have a huge craft beer or beer selection in general, so if that's what you're after, you way want to choose another place with a bigger selection.
If you can deal with the size, and the possible overcrowding then I suggest you stop in for a bite and a beer. You won't regret it.
Side note: They also have a Touch Tunes Jukebox that is jam packed with all sorts of stuff that you wouldn't be expecting a place like this to have. So load up on credits and jam out....
Read moreWould have been five stars (when judged against comparable restaurants, obviously) were it not for two things. First, there is no sign or any other direct indication that one should seat oneself. This is quite annoying when the store is busy, it's your first visit, and you end up standing around the door like an idiot because you don't know what to do. Second is that I was overcharged. Yes, it was by less than a dollar, but is it really that hard for a waiter or waitress to enter their tips correctly? I left an amount that specifically left a round dollar amount, but see a different amount on my statement. This is basic mental math in question here, and an error of this sort shows a level of carelessness that could easily lead to an extra digit being entered, so instead of my $6 and change, I could have been charged 60 and change or worse.
Now, here are the positives. The hamburger is surprisingly good. For the price, it's going to be very hard to beat. The chicken wings are good, though the half pound serving size means that you only get 8 wings for your $9, which is rather steep. The service was prompt, friendly, and attentive once we did just sit down at a table. Last, the iced tea is real and not from a mix machine, which is a huge thing for me. I hate iced tea from a machine, which is...
Read moreI ordered the nachos appetizer for $11 and added beef for $3. It came with exactly 11 chips, a light dusting of beef and thick chunks of cheese. We said something to the server about the small portion, the 11 chips for $11 and paying $3 for less than a 1/4 cup of beef. He was stumped. The bar tender tried to make things right but came off as snide. She did add more beef but not one extra chip. I have served for years and have never seen such stingy portions. We should have sent them back and had them taken off our bill. My friends orders steak tips. They were $10 and they got exactly 10 nickle size pieces of beef, on the driest burnt toast. They could have at least gave them more than a dime size smear of blue cheese to act as a buffer to the hard toast. I love supporting local but this is out of control. Oh yeah don't drink the water. Other than the high prices on the smallest portions of mediocre food, the atmosphere was nice, we had an attentive server and the bathrooms were clean. This place used to be the local watering hole. Now it seems they're aiming to be the next one star small...
