Usually go to Max's on Stafford Ave and they are great! however due to this Covid-19 they were unable to deliver to me and suggested I try Max's IV. I called at 4:10p on a Saturday iand asked if they would deliver. They said yes if I paid with a card and spent at least 30$ + tax. So I added to my order to meet the requirements and paid. The girl couldn't understand my address and was somewhat rude. I asked her to have them call when the driver arrived so I didn't even tell them my apartment # (there are 8 apartments on my property divided between 2 separate houses) she said 40min for delivery. After 1 1/2 hours I call to ask where my delivery is The girls says we don't deliver on Saturday nights. I inform her that I've already ordered and paid. She asks if I'm calling the correct place because I must be mistaken since they are not delivering. I explain again that I've already ordered and paid at 4:10p also told them the address. She puts me on hold again for a long time then still says she doesn't know. I say I don't understand I paid you already. After another hold she says it was delivered and they tried to call (which they didn't). So they just left my food at apt 2 ( not my apartment!). I hang up and go to the other house to look .... No food there. I call back and they just keep claiming they left it. I ask why would they do that? So what am I supposed to do now I've already paid you. She once again says she doesn't know and that someone will have to call me back. I waited 45 min for a call and had to call again. Now the other lady says either they can deliver, give me a refund, or a credit for next time. So I said I can't have both. She says no. As I'm trying to talk to her she keeps talking over me. I say ma'am you are just talking over me and interrupting. She says well we're busy. I did proceed to have to reorder because they didn't even know what I paid for. Overrall it too over 3 hours for delivery. I will never go here again! They are rude! And not caring they totally messed up! Only Max's...

I live a mile from Max 4, tonight is about the 20th time I have gone for takeout, and it’s 100% definitely my last. The Pizza is very greasy and mediocre, crust or sauce have no taste at all, cheese very greasy. Pie is always “flooded” with sauce causing the crust to become soggy. My last 3 visits I have picked up gone home and my order has been WRONG. Frankly I am tired of this and I will not return again. Two months ago I order garlic parm wings get home and they are hot wings. 10 days ago order and pay for a sausage/pepperoni pizza, bring it home open the box and it’s a pepperoni pizza. Tonight order a meatball and onion pizza, come home open the box and I have a Hamburg and onion pizza. I asked for MEATBALL not Hamburg. I’ve just had enough. I regularly go to Pepe’s in West Hartford or New Haven and in 30 plus years of going to both they’ve never gotten an order wrong of mine, ever. Max can’t get an order right and the food is mediocre, at best!
The space is beautiful but what a waste. Large building with an upstairs but you walk in and it feels completely like a Greek Diner, with a Bar. Half a mile from ESPN headquarters, a heavy traffic area in Middle Street. This place could have been a smashing success as a bar and grill, an upscale sports bar with 2 floors, a Sliders Bar & Grill type. Instead it’s a mediocre run of the mill pizza joint/diner. Garbage! Do better!!! Everyone in Bristol/ESPN area leaves Bristol and goes to Plainville - Sliders/J Tim’s. Sad, this location had the making to be a monster in this area, but it’s not built or...
Read moreFirst I want to say, I have been going to Max Pizza on Stafford Ave. for over 20 years. I stuck with them when they had the fire and went to Burlington location just over the Bristol line. The quality and service were always excellent. I think I had only 1 or 2 mistakes in that time. I was really excited to see that there was going to be a Max Pizza 4 around the corner from my house. The love affair ended rather quickly. Almost every order has been incorrect from little things like not cutting in pie like we always ask for, or just plain wrong order, food burnt, undercooked,Or waiting up to an hour for a pizza when other customers come and go with their orders. I have spoken to the manager several times only to be told “it’s hard to keep good help”. She did not seem to care that our family has been long time customers. We have spent a great deal of money there. It’s sad that they are having a difficult time trying to duplicate themselves. Today was the last straw. It is Sunday. Tried to call for take out. It went into voicemail 3 times. Finally got through, just to be put on hold and then got hung up on 3 times. Someone picked up, said hello, and then hung up. Sorry, not acceptable. 6 times? It’s too bad it has come to this. There are many small restaurants that are craving business. We are going to “spread the wealth” and give them a try. Sorry Max 4. We will go...
