Atmosphere is 90's sports bar-ish. Service was adequate, with just a little waiting. Food was varied. The menu is a simple front and back with enough options but not an insane amount of them. The wife had a supreme pizza that looked good in the tradition of wood fired pizzas. I had a slice. It looked good but was bland. The flavor and smell was only bread from an oven. Definitely could use some aromatic spices to liven it up. Salt and pepper were an upgrade. I don't expect a BBQ place to be a great pizza place but there is definitely room to move up. I had the 2 meat plate of pulled pork and beef brisket with slaw and beans as sides. The beans were solidly good but lacked any distinctive character. Perhaps a little pork, or some bacon? The slaw was vinegar based and was excellent when a little salt and pepper were added.
The pulled pork was a good product. It was moist but served dry with decent flavor and little to no fat. The brisket was moist and not over fat. It was fork tender. It did however have an aftertaste I can't place. It wasn't bad but it was underwhelming. I've eaten a lot of brisket all over the country and this came up short to most places. I asked fir hot sauce and got a cup of what almost had to be Asian Zing from Buffalo Wild Wings. Y'all definitely need to work on a signature sauce!
It falls mid spectrum on the food scale of local places. Price was not bad, but a family of 4 will chew through most of a C note for a meal. Overall there is room for improvement and in a highly competitive market they will have to step up if they...
Read moreMy husband and I went to the new Project BBQ in Bristol located inside of the Sportsplex this past weekend, and WOW, we will be back for sure!
We ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, and smoked chicken along with 3 sides of the macaroni cheese, baked potato salad, and bbq beans. Every single piece of that plate was DELICIOUS! The chicken is super juicy and the bbq beans are sooo tasty! We also really liked the sweet bbq sauce and the vinegar based sauce.
We also ordered a pizza with chicken, onions, and mushrooms and that too was good! It’s a thinner pizza but still good.
For last, we had their banana pudding which was also really delicious! It’s a thinner pudding, not like a thick pudding, but I really liked it.
If you like bbq, I 1000% recommend this place! My husband and I will be...
