I chose this place to meet a friend for the first time this weekend as I enjoy visiting local coffee shops at any town I'm visiting versus using a big chain like Starbucks or Dunkin.
I don't normally write reviews but I had to defend the reputation of this place after being present during the encounter that the previous reviewer - we'll call her Karen left. I came in with my friend and while we were waiting to order we witnessed the entire exchange in question. We could tell that the two people working behind the counter were slammed so we were patient when Karen came up in a rude voice stating she had been waiting 24 minutes and demanded to speak to the owner. The manager took a moment to stop preparing orders to let her know they had received a large number of orders before her order. He was not "horrifically rude" but you could tell he also didn't have the luxury of holding up other people so this lady could yell at him. She immediately started loud protesting that she was going to write a terrible review for the place and that she was a small business owner and that she could teach them a thing or two about customer service and was planning on speaking to the owner. She then stormed out of the place with her friend stating loudly "I don't need a refund I'm going to be giving you a terrible review".
Immediately after her leaving they finished the obviously large order they had prepared for the customer previous to Karen - it was a large stack of to go plates and sandwiches etc. and we placed our order. The manager looked at me and tried to explain and I let him know it wasn't necessary - anyone could tell how busy they were and we were empathetic. Surprisingly to me after witnessing that whole exchange the 2 lattes and sandwich were delivered to our tablet about 5 minutes after we placed our order.
The chicken sandwich I ordered was pretty good for Cafe fare and I got an iced vanilla latte which probably would have been better had I realized that they put whipped cream on top which ruins the taste of the coffee to me - but it was my first time here so no big deal. My friend got a hot latte with almond milk and thought it was good as well. The overall atmosphere of the shop was very laid back and pleasant and the seating was really comfortable. The menus they have are definitely larger, with more options available that most cafes I've visited.
If this place was closer to my home I would definitely be a regular here I feel. It is just a shame when self entitled, "self-employed" people expect special treatment and try to do real damage to an establishment that isn't deserving of it. Everyone who has a real job and does any hiring understands just how difficult the labor situation is right now and should be a little more understanding at small businesses especially if they struggle with labor shortages.
Kudos to the owner for keeping this place running through these times - I'm sure it is a favorite of...
Read moreI absolutely love this place. My wife and I get breakfast and coffee every Sunday. The chicken salad is amazing as well as the iced Chai. The staff is always friendly and willing to answer questions about their menu.
I was in line behind Ms. Kish (Karen) on the day she claims was mistreated. Firstly, she was rude and condescending to the person she was with. Her tone with the barista was also quite rude. I placed my usual order took a seat near the counter and caught up on some work emails. After a few orders were passed over the counter, this woman walks up to the counter and loudly (this is a quiet, cozy coffee shop) that she’s been waiting 24 minutes and how unacceptable that is. While she was belittling the two workers working on several large orders, I looked through my sent emails and saw it had only been 12 minutes. Then she went on a rant about how she’s a small business owner and she could show them a thing or two about running a business. It was amusing to watch her turn away from the counter and look to the patrons to proudly declare she’ll never come back again. By that time my order was ready, I kindly thanked the baristas, and started walking to the door. At that point I saw the gentleman she was with sitting at a booth with a look of what I can only call shame and embarrassment. Obviously not the first time this woman has pulled nonsense like this.
The cheesecake and peanut butter cookies are phenomenal, and the coffee and chai are worth the drive. And the food is made to order, so yea, it’ll take a few minutes. But it’s amazing and worth it.
Watching this display of an entitled, spoiled, brat was cringe-worthy. I wish the worst thing to happen to me was a 10 minute wait for...
Read moreI have been here a few times recently and keep hoping it'll be good but it disappoints. I met up with someone for a business meeting, and the coffee was the worst I've ever had. Had to throw it away. Then came back a couple weeks later with a friend, dying for a cup of coffee -- there were only a couple customers there and we were the only ones in line. The man working was right there doing something behind the counter. He clearly saw us, didn't say anything, and ignored us. After about 5 minutes, we finally gave up and left. Not going back. Sad. I used to go there a lot many years ago. Wish they had better service and good coffee. Follow Up - after google notified me that I got a response, I clicked to see that the owner wrote a shockingly hateful response. And it looks like he/she does this to all negative feedback with an almost form-response of trashy namecalling. To the owner - Take criticism as an opportunitiy to improve and gain sales, instead of being hurt and lashing out at good people wanting to support your business. People can understand if you have a bad day and you're off your game. Responses like this just make us sad that every day must be a bad day for you. I wish you a better day today. Hopefully you'll have good coffee and good sales...
