Review for Billy Ray’s Catfish & BBQ – Broken Arrow
For years, my family and I have been loyal customers of Billy Ray’s, consistently ordering BBQ and catfish. We supported this local spot not just out of convenience, but out of trust. That trust has been eroded—slowly, then all at once.
Over time, we’ve noticed a troubling pattern: our orders often contain a mix of freshly cooked fish and pieces that are clearly dried out and past their prime. Today, I decided to speak up. I politely asked the young lady at the window to show me the food before I paid. Her response? Dismissive and unprofessional. She refused, then told me, “You don’t have to buy it.” That’s not just poor customer service—it’s a slap in the face to a repeat patron.
When I called to express my concern, I was met with the same flippant tone. I was told not to come back. And let’s be honest: that’s a line many Black customers know all too well. “You don’t have to come back.” Translation: We’ll take your money, but not your voice. Not your dignity. Not your expectation of quality.
It’s disheartening to be treated like a nuisance instead of a valued customer. My years of patronage clearly meant nothing. So I’ll take my business elsewhere—even if it means driving further for catfish that’s hot, fresh, and served with respect. Because I’d rather pay for quality than tolerate disrespect.
Billy Ray’s may have once been a neighborhood staple. But when a business shows you who they are,...
Read moreWe tried ordering from two other places before trying Billy Ray's. One place no longer exists, and the other place was rude to us. But the staff at Billy Ray's were happy to have our business! 😁
We ordered the 3 meat family meal with four sides. We picked brisket, catfish, and pulled pork and our sides were mac & cheese, baked beans, cole slaw, and potato salad. We also added two of each flavor of cobbler.
We picked up the food later from their convenient drive-up window. It was so simple! Luke's BBQ could take several pages on efficiency and customer service from Billy Ray's playbook.
The mac & cheese was out of this world! Creamy and delicious! I didn't taste any of the other sides. The catfish and brisket were on the dry side, but we had an hour drive to our destination, so that probably didn't help. Sadly, we forgot all about the cobbler because we were chatting with family, but I'm sure they will enjoy it later!
Overall, it was a really nice experience, especially after the way we were treated at Luke's BBQ. The way you treat your customers really matters! And we appreciate the staff at...
Read moreIt's very hard for me to leave this review. We have enjoyed Billy Ray's barbecue many times we enjoyed the barbecue.I went in today.Explain my last adventure with a cat fish and explained. It was not so good. The last time we had came in. I came in today I got the catfish two piece and one side of the fried okra and even picked up the cherry copper. Ask for cocktail sauce and hot sauce. Maybe I was incorrect because I didn't check my order before. I left the location having hope that everyone had a their job. I got home. The catfish was okay but said par. The fried oaker was cold. I had no cocktail and few sleeves of hot sauce. I tried calling the location. Set on hold for over 12 minutes with no response. People wonder why business is going down. These few minor things is what makes the difference. I called the Tulsa location only to be told that I should be put into an inconvenience of driving back to the Broken Arrow location to point out to them. What they had already been done wrong even though I had already been setting on hold to reach out and contact them and ask for a resolution...
