Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue & Catering - Broken Arrow — Restaurant in Broken Arrow

This was the second time that I had been to Oklahoma Joe's, and honestly, I need to stop in even more. First off, the establishment is kept so nice and is always clean. The menu has the right amount to choose from, and what I have tasted of my picks during visiting have been top notch! If you are passing through, you MUST pick up a to go order of those BBQ beans because they are a thing that addiction are made of. Another curious, but tasty mention I'll make here is their spicy coleslaw. I am very particular when it comes to coleslaw but theirs is different. They have added a spice to it with what seems like cayenne pepper (with an undoubted other mix of spices). It is a surprising kick in the taste buds, but a welcome one that I think any spicy fan should try at least once!

Both times I visited, the food was also very quick. No real waiting and we were grubbing down in no time! A BIG plus for me!

What makes this whole experience complete is the friendly staff. I may have only been there twice, but both times I have been greeted, and dealt with a staff that was friendly, full of smiles and people that genuinely seem like they want to be there. Of course, we can't forget about Arthur! Both times Arthur greeted myself and my party, and man! I feel like I could talk with him for the duration of the visit and then some. On my last particular visit, he stopped by our table of course to make sure we were doing ok, but had a seat and started talking with us and engaging. Of course he told us about reviewing (which I was going to do already) but that, as well as talking with him about the event that was going on across the street made me want to review that much more. Give that man a raise!!

3/9/25 UPDATE: I like Oklahoma Joe's. I originally gave them 5 stars, but here is the reason for my change. I have never ordered from them for delivery until today. You would think that when you spend over $100 on food, they would make sure your order is absolutely correct BEFORE sending it out the door, but NO. My ½ Slab Rib Dinner was missing potato salad. My Smoked Chicken Dinner did not get ANY of the 2 sides. My 2-meat Dinner did get what was supposed to be there, but the fries & okra were soaked in grease. The grease literally went through the paper it was in, the paper bag the sides & BBQ sauce was in, AND the paper delivery sack. We didn't even get our hush puppies we ordered, and the 2 Cherry Bread Pudding had NO sauce, none. It was just dry Cherry Bread. The meat was still good, but I didn't order just meat, I ordered & paid for 3 complete dinners and did not get 3 complete dinners. Not that it matters who delivered, but it was Doordash & the delivery guy did great. He even offered to go back after I asked him if they gave him another sack because we were missing items. I just didn't feel it was his responsibility to go another 5 miles back, I felt it was Oklahoma Joe's to make sure it was correct before it left in the first place. So, if you want Oklahoma Joe's, make sure you go in. Do NOT order delivery because I don't feel you get the same attention to your order, even when you're spending the same money, a lot of money. Quality control issue!!

ORIGINAL POST: Smoked Chicken was moist, not dry & delish! Wish they had a sweet coleslaw. I'm not a fan of the spicy, but if you like that, it's good, I guess. Chopped brisket & smoked sausage were good as well. I personally like a little more mayo in my potato salad than mustard, but theirs is still really good. Baked beans are really good! I'll take Oklahoma Joe's over many...

8/22- Staff did well today. Brisket was edibly fair, Pulled chicken above average, Ribs were good and falling off the bone, salad was good, sides overall are ok but sweet potato fries were the favorite. Came on a Tuesday at 4, place was near dead. Upgraded from 2.5 to 3.25.

2019 review - Update a year later - 2.5 stars Management is still a disaster. New - they only give you a little less than half the breast if you order a Smoked Chicken Dinner which is advertised as 1/2 chicken instead of giving you the whole breast. Not sure where the other 55% of the breast goes or why they do that. This time on Saturday night, which used to be busy, it is borderline dead. I think we are done here, quite a shame.

Originally review 3 stars - Food is great, staff that is customer facing is great. Management is a disaster. They held the line because they screwed up orders and needed to put a 20 minute+ line on hold for “5 min” (actual was 12 min). The kids sitting next to us waited 90 minutes for their food. After an hour and 7 min there I looked at my wife and said “How much longer do you want to put up with this?” Our food came just as she replied.
