We stayed in this hotel shortly after it was built back in Spring 2017. (The pool was being built during our first stay!) Back then there was no pet fee and the breakfast was exceptional. The room back then was reasonably priced so we'd always stay there at LaQuinta BA numerous times a year whenever we'd go down to Broken Arrow/Tulsa to visit family. The pool was always clean and beautifully lit up at night, the hotel lobby, hallways, breakfast area, elevators and rooms were exceptionally kept up.| |THEN LaQuinta sold out to Wyndham and things started going downhill. The rates were raised quite high, pet fee jumped to $20, the breakfasts weren't anything like they were before and the customer service went downhill. Before Wyndham took over, they had flavored creamer for coffee and different types of teas. The breakfast had always been well-stocked and kept clean BUT when Wyndham took over it was obvious that there had been a MAJOR management change - not for the good. During our last stay at LaQuinta BA in Nov 2018, I was very angry when the front desk allowed kids to run across the floor above us, screaming and dragging furniture across the room. When we complained - over the phone and then I went down to talk with management as it wouldn't stop for hours - we were rudely told that they would NOT say anything to the occupants of the room above us. The manager and front desk clerk said rudely that we should "be tolerant" of small children. Not only children doing that above us but loud music was tolerated as well. We couldn't even hear our TV it was so loud. Management wouldn't let us move to a different room. They adamantly refused to inform those above us that they were disturbing others. So we stopped staying there - for years. (and yes, I contacted Wyndham about the complaint and never received any communication back from them.)|Present day - we just returned from LaQuinta BA after staying two nights. We had gotten a good rate on the room so thought we'd try it as the reviews hadn't been bad. Our room on the 4th floor was clean, the premises were clean. There is a very nice area for pets designated with ample place for our dog to smell and do his/her business. Unfortunately, some people don't pick up after their dog but that is not the hotel's fault. The area isn't where people are coming/going and it's perfect for a designated pet area. |The pool was closed as it is after Labor Day (expected). |The exterior doors require a card key for entrance and this is high on my list for security. I never felt unsafe there. |The bed was comfortable. I like the smaller square pillows.|The air conditioning worked well and was quiet.|Internet worked very well - no issues.|TV is large and has ample stations.|No clock in the room - you'll have to use your phone.|Microwave and small refrigerator with a coffee maker.|LOTS of electrical outlets in the room which is very convenient.|The carpet where it connects to the hardwood floor area is worn and a little shredded at the seam. Of course, I remember when this hotel was brand new so it's to be expected that there has been some wear/tear after 7 1/2 years.|The walk-in shower is wonderful - enclosed in sliding glass doors. It's huge and the water pressure/shower experience was great. The bathroom is fairly large and well-stocked.|The elevators were timely.|This time it was quiet and serene in the hotel. No yelling, no loud music even though the parking lot was very full both Friday and Saturday nights.|The check-out front desk clerk this morning was pleasant and even said thank you to us.|Everything was fine with the stay except two things - |1. When checking in on Friday, the front desk clerk didn't speak English well. |2. The breakfast was a HUGE disappointment! Only lukewarm scrambled eggs, very greasy link sausage, waffle maker (the waffle mix machine wasn't working yesterday morning so we had to hunt someone down at 8:50 a.m. No one had stocked the breakfast area recently. Once I finally got the waffle mix, I had to take my fork to remove the waffle as there was no tongs there. The syrup was almost gone. The rest was like Continental Breakfast and pretty much what you'd get at a Quality Inn, etc. Nothing special. The tables in the lobby weren't cleaned off. The two tall trash cans near the doors of the breakfast area were nearly overflowing both mornings and that may be the reason why there was trash left on some of the tables in the lobby area. |The exterior of the hotel was clean and well-kept. It is a safe area and I never felt uneasy while staying there. There have been numerous buildings built around there since 2017. Wendy's and Steak N Shake are easily walked to, among other businesses and there are other hotels as well up on that hill. The view from the "city view room" is nice especially at sunset. The hotel is easy to get in and out of. The parking is kind of difficult to find a spot if the hotel is full.|Overall, I'm glad we gave it another try but we'll only stay there if the rates...
Read moreThis particular hotel's sole saving grace is it's location; however, due to the variety of choices in the very near vicinity, I recommend skipping it altogether, especially if you're of African descent.
When you pull into the parking lot, do yourself a favor and simply look up, you'll SEE the damages to the roof that causes it to leak and flood the fourth floor, causing damage to the ceilings and foul odors throughout the entire hallway of the third floor. At first, the woman at the front desk, stated that she had just come in from church (they have no business cards at all l, seemingly on purpose) had a very pleasant but extremely cold and unhelpful vibe. I saved my gripes for the general manager.
The rooms aren't much better, specifically the third floor where the pet odors from the second floor and water damage from the fourth floor smash you in the middle.
Room: One of those "conjoined rooms with the nearly faulty conjoining door lock between them" kind of things. Immediate anxiety. Was told it was "for staff access only, not guest use." PTSD Trigger averted, or so I thought, it was occupied within a half hour. First lie. Bathroom dirty. Dust everywhere, curtains off the track, closing stem broken, hanging off, falling off. even the cracked living room television. Soggy mattresses, miniature pillows, half the size of regular pillows. Also dirty. There's a wooden block that holds up one side of one bed, they say they're two queens, but they're really two doubles, filthy, "happy stains" left on the small orange chair to accompany the film of dirt all over.
Tried to switch rooms but was told they were"not all clean at the momemt". Called an hour later: "sorry, we're at full capacity and I can't rent out any rooms om the fourth floor because of a roof leak." A total lie, plenty of rooms available on website, I'm a diamond member, I would know. Then I was told that I "could purchase an upgrade, for a King Executive Suite," fine. The attendant hung up and an hour went by. Called back down only to be put on hold for five minutes, then told, "well its $30 more for an upgrade." I immediately say, "Ok ,I'll take it." She then puts me on hold, asks to call me back, ten minutes later-calls me back. "Sorry, the room has been booked". Beyond frustrating.
The "nice/nasty" passive aggressive attitudes hide clear apathy and racism that permeates the place from management on down. Asked to speak to general manager, was told quickly,"she's only here between 4-5 Monday!" Called Monday 5pm General Manager wasn't much better: snide, condescending, talking over you, addressing lies told by staff with MORE lies. Terrible management, offered "discount" sent over receipt with same previous amount.
Called back to try to get correct receipt amount emailed, and was unceremoniously hung up on, of course. Avoid this place.
Where's the Elevator Inspection Certificate? When are you going to fix the other elevator that's down? When will the roof repair be completed? When will all patrons of your establishment be treated with respect, regardless of their appearance? Here's a hint: Adequately answering the fourth question will help you adequately...
Read moreI want by mentioning that I probably would not give this hotel 1 star but I would be unable to post it.
My husband and I have traveled from TX to Broken Arrow/ Tulsa OK multiple times and stayed in nearby hotels. We've never stayed at a La Quinta property so we decided to try this one. We arrived in town around 2:50 or 3 pm. When we got off the elevator, there was an odor that reminded me of dirty carpeting in the hallway. We stayed in room 227 and the same odor was there also. By this time, I was thinking, I hope we made the right decision to stay at this property so I was willing to give it a chance. Since we were quite hungry, went to the room to unpacked and shortly thereafter went back out. I usually check the room carefully but did not do so this time. Later when we returned, I noticed that the room had a lot of scratches on the walls and furniture. I was ready to relax for the evening and went into the bathroom to shower. I was saw two hair strands on the shower floor. My husband did not take a shower before or after we came back to the room so I was the first to use the shower. My first and immediate thought was the shower was not cleaned properly if it was even cleaned at all. There was black discoloration along the bottom crease of the shower wall and floor. I was very uncomfortable stepping in the shower so I placed a towel on the shower floor to stand on. Later on that evening, I went back into the bathroom and noticed a roach crawling on the floor alongside the vanity by the door. This is not what I was expecting! My husband saw a large soiled spot on the bedspread and I saw another soiled area on the bedspread. He had to use flimsy, dingy thin towel after showering the next morning that was smaller than the other ones. If I had known that, I would have used that towel to stand in the shower. The beds were OK, but I have slept on better mattresses in other hotels. I have photos of the dirty bedspread, hair in the shower and roach. We only stayed for one night but if it wasn't for that, we would have checked out of this dirty smelly, roach hotel immediately and checked into the Holiday Inn next door. This was not a comfortable environment for us taking into consideration of the rate of $118.80 per night + tax $14.75. Upon check out, the front desk staff person asked how was my stay. I let her know everything and showed her the photos. She did not seem concerned and apologetic. She told me that the floor we stayed on is usually for guest(s) with pets which was a very poor excuse. First of all, the bathroom should have been clean properly! There is no reason a guest should see hair in the shower. Secondly, we did not have a pet so why was this the first option to place us on this floor instead of placing us on a floor not designated for pets. The other excuse about the bedspread was it is hard to get those stains out. If this hotel considers the guest not important enough to provide unspotted linens, decent towels, and deodorize the carpet, it should not be in business. The breakfast was not of quality food and I did not eat there. We will NOT be staying at this...
