Toro's BBQ — Restaurant in Brookhaven

The food started out as 5 stars, unfortunately that’s slowly declining. As for the service. It’s horrible and the owner is a hot head who can’t handle the work load.

I’ve been told 45 minutes to pick up and order which is understandable when they’re busy. The issue is when you show up in 45 minutes and have to wait another 30 to get your food because it’s never ready. My most recent order I was told to pick it up at 6:15. My fiancé showed up at 6:10 and was asked about her order about 6:20. The owner said he’s getting it ready. 10 Minutes later he comes out with orders for 4 people that walked in after her. Then he came with an order and it wasn’t the correct persons order, it was a door dash order. My fiancé explained what we ordered and the owner said he’ll get it ready. Another. 20 minutes longer and 3 other orders out except ours, including another man who seemed pretty upset. Finally the owner comes out and starts to ring up another wrong order. My fiancé explained what it was and asked if it was ready or not, because she woulda waited in the car. She was already standing in the store for 45+ minutes. An hour and a half since the order was placed. The owner said “you know what, you can just go”!

When I called to asked what happened, to my order, he lied and said she said she didn’t want the food and he was busy and hung up on me.

I called back to explain she was gonna wait in the car or come back and was cursed out. I simply wanted and apology and him to take ownership that he messed up.

This guy needs to hire some people and take a customer service course at DCCC.

Read some of the owners responses to other bad complaints. This guy thinks he can treat people rudely, without consequences. I don’t care how good the food “CAN” be, you don’t treat customers this way. Im a brookhaven resident and have always promoted this place prior to this evening.

Update: so looks like his response is that he just had to bag the food up. You told her that 5 times and ran in the back and came out with other peoples food and not ours?? You’re so busy but have time to respond to this at 7:30pm?

Take some ownership. You didn’t throw any food away because you didn’t make it. You tried giving her guacamole and chips. That’s not what we ordered. Once again a lie lol. This was my first time in this establishment I had heard about it from my sister and wanted to try it. I ordered the four tacos, two beef and two chicken, asked if they sold ground beef tacos, which is very common, he seemed offended that I asked, he said NO I don’t have ground beef, only beef steak & Birria! Then unfortunately i asked if I could get fries, I asked Anthony the cashier, he said he would have to ask in the back, so when Miguel came out, I asked him could I get an order of fries he first said I didn’t wait on you he did. I said I asked him and he said he would have to ask you if I can get them because they only come with a platter. So he said yes, of course and asked me my name, and when he gave them to the cashier to bring out, no one said a price, mind you no prices are posted. Only online i found that out later. I asked him how much do I owe and then he said $7.50. All I said after was $7.50 for order of fries? Thought maybe he had the wrong price, I went to open the bag to see them and Miguel was very unprofessional speaking to me almost hollering saying “ don’t come in here with an attitude, you either take them or not”! I told him I’m not the one with an attitude. Im a paying customer I have a right to open my container and also the right to ask a price! First time trying Toro’s at 8:45 on a Sunday after not knowing what to do for dinner and they were basically the only ones open and the menu sounded yummy. Best choice ever. Very nice man over the phone to help decide some options for what we wanted to order. Ended up with the loaded Carne Asada Tacos, the Fish Tacos, Cilantro Lime Rice, Mac and Cheese, and both styles of Guac with Chips. Delicious and packed with steak / large chucks of fish. All tasted super fresh and made to order. There was lots of flavor but not overwhelming and the ‘kicks of flavor’ were on the side essentially so someone that doesn’t like ‘spicy’ should definitely be safe to try here… Will definitely be going back! Price is quite reasonable for what you get and how little would be on the tacos elsewhere… there was more than enough food per meal. Stuffed in the best way! I recommend putting a little sliver of Mac and Cheese on with the Carne Asada Tacos after having some ‘standardly’ as it was yummy and different. I’m so glad this is local and they have later hours since usually I work pretty late so this might end up being a recurring stop on the way home haha.
