The new pizza cappicollo hot honey is delicious. It pairs well with cherry vanilla coke. The thin crust is excellent however the pan pizza is not what it used to be. Pan crust used to be so good here. It's literally horrible now. I'll never buy another slice of pan pizza here again. Three weeks in a row, soft, doughy, mush. Pan crust is not supposed to be soft and doughy, in fact no type of pizza is supposed to be soft and doughy. Note to cooks: Pan pizza crust has a fluffy texture, similar to focaccia. Crust crispiness: Pan pizza crusts tend to be crunchier and more golden because the crust is essentially fried in oil in the oven. I'm not sure what they are doing wrong but that mush is not pan pizza.

This was my first time at George's Pizza. I had never heard of it, but a quick Google search of pizza places in Brookings had it listed as #1. Well, it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and all the staff were very courteous. We decided to have Greek pizza with bread sticks, fries and baklava! It was all so amazing and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. The atmosphere was cozy and felt like we were being catered to very well. I would recommend George's Pizza to anyone who wants to experience great food.

My family has been coming here since the 1970s. Our most recent visit here we had pizza, wings, and the Greek salad - all very, very good. The Greek salad was HUGE and I’ll totally get it again. The shakers of oregano at the table are appreciated. 😋 Insta food reviews @cheaprecipeblog

This place was a disaster from the moment we (5 people) stepped inside on Saturday, December 21st, at around 6:15 pm. It took a long time to be acknowledged (10 minutes) but we weren't too concerned because we had 90 minutes to spare. A waitress came to take our drink order of 2 waters and 3 beers. One beer came almost immediately (not from the waitress because she was too young to serve) but with no glass, which we had asked for when we placed the order. I asked for a glass. The other two beers showed up a bit later with one glass. We asked for two more glasses. The waitress came to take our order at 6:40. We asked for two glasses again. She said something about that she knew we all wanted a glass and went away after taking our order. Looking at the clock (6:45) we still weren't too concerned because we still had an hour before we needed to leave for our concert. A while later the waitress asked my husband if he needed another beer. He said yes and she walked away as my dad was trying to tell her he wanted another beer as well. She didn't ask anyone else if they needed more water or anything else. My mom was the first to receive her food. Yes, she received her food about 5 minutes before everyone else, even though 4 out of the 5 of us ordered the Greek Chicken. My mom and dad have eaten at George's A LOT. She noticed that the portion size was smaller than usual. Oh, and my dad asked for a beer when my mom got her food. Two more Greek Chicken orders came out with my daughter's hamburger and fry order...but no fries. The menu said the burger came with fries. When my husband's Greek Chicken finally came, we ordered our daughter's fries. At this point, we hadn't seen our waitress since she asked my husband if he wanted another beer. No one came to check on us to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. When we were finished with everything, the waitress finally showed up and asked if everything was okay. I said I could have used a water long ago. My dad asked her to bring the tab. No water but we did receive the tab. When paying the tab, my mom told the person behind the register that we did not have good service and the female said, "That's just how some nights go." She then told me the charge (I had not looked at the tab.) $48.06 which could not possibly be correct so I asked to see the tab. There was one less Greek Chicken and no beer on the receipt. We were also charged for 4 of the cucumber specialty sauces in which we received 1. The final amount then came to $73.89. I made some comment about, "Isn't it nice I'm helping you make money tonight?" We received no apologies, no witty comeback, no price off our tab for being good sports and being honest, and no THANK YOU! We made it to our seats at the concert at 7:58 pm with the concert scheduled to begin at 8:00. None of the 5 of us were mad but we are all extremely disappointed in our visit. We will not get over this any time...

It's sad to me......

That no matter what restaurant it is it is a matter of time before it lets you down.

I have been in town for roughly a month now, as I travel for work. I live at a hotel and work long hours and because of that I look for good restaurants, in my temporary area, to eat from while on a project. I have had George's 6 times since in town (3 times carryout pizza, 1 time chicken, which blows away KFC and 2 times pizza delivery, as I wanted to help out delivery drivers, while being a little lazy. I always get the same pizza(pepperoni, Italian sausage and green olives-extra crisp) the first 4 times it blew my mind how good it was. This time it was very lite on cheese and was doughy in the middle, which bums me out since I ordered it "extra crispy" for this reason and gladly wait as long as it takes for this to happen.

Unfortunately George's, next time I will have to order it to go, to save the approximate $11 extra (including $6 tip, want to try to help people especially in these times)as well as inspect it before I leave.

I will still go there as it blows away the competition, but still bums me out.

Please find my original review below......

I LOVE this pizza! I travel for work and can't stand mainstream pizza. Everytime I go to a new town I always look for a "craft" pizza spot that I can enjoy while there. This is...

This is hard to write as I have been going to George's since 1972 and I like the new owner on a personal level.

Some of the new changes, however, compel me to speak up. While they might be using the same recipes, they are not using the same QUANITIES...the pizza is dry because they are using less sauce. If you want the same amount as the past, you have to ask for extra sauce and they charge you. The chicken has always been amazing...but whereas you used to get 2 pieces of each with an 8 piece, you now only get 1 breast and the rest wings or legs. Even if you ask and pay for all white, you don't get an extra breast...just more wings. I am not going to pay $20 for 1 chicken breast folks. Clearly the new management is all about maximizing the profit margin and has removed the value proposition from the equation. They even charge you for using a CC now.

The staff is still super friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, and the little food you get is still good...but you get very little of it for your dollar. Another mainstay of Brookings slips into the past. Sad indeed.

thanks owner...I will stop...
