My boyfriend and I were excited to try this place as there are not many good sit down restaurants in the area. We walked in around 8:45-9:00 and the website said it closed at 10:00pm. We were greeted across the bar by the bartender as he was mopping and closing down everything. He stated he has to "double check" with the kitchen to make sure they were open....the bartender then sat us at a booth. The atmosphere was rustic, nice and clean, the vibe of the place and the servers was a bit odd. Our server walked over to us placed two waters on the table and walked away. No greeting, no name, nothing...odd to me. Anyways he took our order with no notepad and pen, which is always a running joke between my boyfriend and I. If you choose to memorize orders, the service better be damn good and there better not be one thing missing on the table. We ordered spinach artichoke dip for an app, I ordered a half chicken and he ordered a Reuben sandwich. The server had to check to see if all of this was available because apparently they run out of food often. He came back stating there were no half chickens left, so I ordered a steak cooked at medium temperature with a side of mashed potatoes and cauliflower. 15-20 minutes later he arrives with our meals...never brought the appetizer and stressed his sincerest apology and said he'd buy a dessert on him. He proceeds to say enjoy your meal and walk away before I caught him to grab us silverware that wasn't at our table. He apologizes and runs over to the other servers who are in the middle of rolling all of the silverware and grabs a couple of sets and some napkins and places it on the table. After all of this, I finally get a chance to cut into my steak and it is completely raw in the middle and looked like the butcher just cut it off the cow, the cauliflower was warm and barely cooked so it had a crunchy raw texture and the potatoes were mushy with no flavor. Honestly the best part of the meal was my boyfriends french fries that he let me eat while I waited for my meal. We finally grabbed our server to ask if we could have my steak to go because my boyfriend had already finished his meal. When we received my new steak to go, he placed the bag on the booth seat and started to look through the bag to ensure everything was in the bag. He pulled out a to go container of a cheeseburger and said “this burger isn’t yours, must be another customers.” LOL! Oh, we also never got our free dessert. We will not be going back to this...
Read moreThis place is beautiful but is obviously experiencing some growing pains. Went here tonite, called on the way (15min away), and was told 30 -40 min. No problem. Got there checked in and they said still going to be 30-45 min. Ok, they’re re busy, no big deal. We were seated by 7:05. The server was very cordial and seemed a bit new and pretty busy. She asked for our drink and dinner order all at once, no ask of appetizers, soups, salad etc. it took over 1 hour and 15 min, to get our order which came out sporadically after we asked how long it would be. Sides came out before entrees, one entree had to be sent back, sides for that dish never showed. We were told multiple times, they were backed up in the kitchen, however no attempt was made to keep patrons occupied, no bread, no appetizers. We were not the only ones looking around wondering where the food was. We were told by one patron leaving before e ent in that they were out of one entree, and when we got in and seated, suddenly they were not out of it, so it was ordered and the one sent back as it was apparent that it was made with what they had, not with what the menu said, kind of thrown together. Overall food was ok, just ok but the whole wait and one rough entree took the positive edge off the whole dinner. It is obvious that they cannot keep up in the kitchen. If the restaurant is full, waitstaff needs to have maybe a few more people to keep everyone sane. They’ll need to up their kitchen organization if they want to survive and not run out of baked potatoes on a Friday night of a holiday weekend. BTW Walmart is across the street, they sell potatoes. Perhaps the biggest negative to the whole deal was that neither the manager nor the owner could come over to apologize or get some feedback, nor could they look in our direction or even acknowledge us as we left. The server was forced to apologize for things that were not her fault. People skills go along way these days, you opened the business, you better be able to talk to your patrons and take constructive criticism or you might as well close the doors now. I will try them again, maybe a lunch a few months down the road in hopes that they can get the kinks out. It’s definitely a nice addition to the area if they can make it work. Also, keep salt, pepper, ketchup...
Read moreA lot of mixed thoughts here. My wife and I went last night after hearing from 4 other family members that this place was really good. So we decided to try it. Right away the Hostess was awesome and got us a seat right away and gave a great welcome and gave us lots of great information about the specials and what is and is no longer on the list. She made us feel comfortable. The Interior of the restaurant is very nice and classy. The waitress was wonderful and came back to to check on us often. Also the food came out pretty quick. So 5 stars for service! Now lets talk food and pricing. My wife ordered the french onion soup, that was very good. For a little over $20, My wife ordered steak tips with mashed potatoes and a side of mac and cheese. The steak was awesome, tender and juicy. She loved that. The potatoes where kind of grey with not much seasoning in it. Weren't anything special. The Mac n Cheese was sadly disappointing to her. The staff even talked up the Mac n Cheese too much. The sauce tasted pretty processed, tasted like canned cheese dip mixed in with crunched cheese it crackers in butter on top. Also for a little over $20 my meal was the Gorgonzola Fettuccine with chicken. To me it just tasted like normal Chicken Alfredo. Again nothing that special. With tip and tax it came to about $63. For that price, we could have gotten the same food for half the price else ware. Perhaps they still need to work out the kinks. I did see some delicious looking burgers pass by my table though. Perhaps if I go by my self, next time I will try the reuben or one of the burgers. So over all, 5 stars for service, 3.5 stars for food and 2 stars...
