The store is old and dingy, the staff usually is friendly and helpful. The merchandise is hit or miss as you never know exactly what is in stock at any giving time. The prices are usually very good as it is a closeout bargin type store. The food section is mostly well stocked with a great variation of choices. Just be sure if buying in bulk that you are going to use or consume the items before the expiration date. Being this type of store most items are closer to the tail end of the self life. I came home Wednesday night (4/26) from shopping at Ocean State and found my wallet missing! After frantically calling, I returned to the store to learn the crew had already scoured the register area and parking lot. They were super-gracious to this very frazzled customer and offered to have the camera tape checked to see what it had recorded of my purchase. The manager reported that I had not returned the wallet to my handbag but had stuffed it into a bag of material I had brought for matching. My wallet was safe at home! I cant deny that the prices on most of their goods are unbeatable. They constantly have sales even on items that are in season, rather than wait until winter to mark down summer supplies. For example in the middle of the summer they will have huge sales on air-conditioners, pool and camping supplies, and outdoor furniture.

My only complaint is that the quality of the merchandise in this store is hit or miss. I got a fantastic deal on an AC unit and the thing runs like an ox... and yet another time i bought luggage and on the first day i used it the bag ripped, handle broke off, and the wheels bent.
