The Ice Box & Sütő — Restaurant in Brooklyn

I just wanted to take a moment and thank the staff working tonight (5/11/23). The lady at the counter was so pleasant from the second I walked up to order. My sister was out on the back deck, so I was asking about some gluten free options that were available, since she is celiac. The second she had heard celiac come out of my mouth, her whole demeanor changed to a more serious note and told me of any potential areas of cross contamination and even suggested I bring my sister inside so we can figure it all out together. So I brought my sister in and she was able to walk us through what is and isn’t safe, any cross contamination areas again, and then offered to make my sister a side Caesar without any croutons. One of the cooks was alerted and they both agreed they cook everything in their own pans and assured us there would be no allergy risks for my sister. We waited for the food outside, and the cook had found us to double check who was getting the tater tots as a side (it was me) and wanted to make sure I wasn’t allergic and my sister was okay being around them. It was SUCH a breath of fresh air to have these workers care so much and be so cautious of celiac, a disease that is usually laughed at and looked over. Not only did we feel safe and wanted, but the food was outstanding and we will definitely be eating here more often, thanks to the two employees who went above and beyond...

We've been here twice and both times were amazing! Our first trip we had ice cream at the Ice Box and ordered some fries from Suto. The ice cream was delicious but the FRIES...omg those fries...are what brought us back for Lunch this past Sunday. This time we ordered a California Burrito, Hot Chicken Sammie with "war style" fries, and Cheeseburger Slider kids meal (for our pup). Everything was SOOO GOOD!!! The Chicken Sammie was a total knockout and of course the fries will keep me coming back. The war style was awesome (peanut sauce, mayo, and onion) but honestly you cant go wrong with any way you get them because have I mentioned the fries are amazing?! 😂 The Burrito was huge and I got to try a bite so I can say it was delicious! Our dog loved her cheeseburger (and trust me shes a picky eater) and we loved that she could hang out on the back patio with her. Side note: the pickles that they served with the sandwich....are crazy addicting...so I'm thinking the fried pickles they have on the menu under "shareables" are definitely in...

I highly recommend this place! We go to The Ice Box every Sunday night for ice cream, the prices aren't bad, and the ice cream is great, with options for gf, vegan, and no added sugar. Tonight, I asked for hot fudge, and the person making it (I wish I got her name, because I so appreciate her telling me) told me that hot fudge isn't gluten free. Mind you, I've been eating this every Sunday for months, with no idea why I'm getting sick. I've asked twice in the past if it's gf, and been told yes. So anyone with celiac can understand my horror. I spoke to a manager, and they're going to take steps to offer better information to their staff, so it doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. I was really surprised how receptive they were, and their dedication to their customers is obvious. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. We'll definitely be continuing our...
