JJ's Pizza — Restaurant in Broussard

Long review, but read before going: We love going to local places however I'm sad to say that, despite the good pizza and atmosphere, this is the second time we've been and had bad service. The hostess and our server were friendly, but we ordered appetizers, someone else bought them to our table and we were done with the apps before our waiter came to see if we were ready to order. By then, we all needed refills on our drinks. Once we ordered and asked for our refills, our waiter took at least ten minutes to return. (To be specific, it was two fountain drinks to refill. Not complicated.) There were maybe two four top tables and a seven top, and us, a family of five, and it seemed as though our waiter was the only server and focused his attention on the alcohol ordering seven top. We noticed a server sitting and rolling silverware and saw one other person walking back and forth but never serving anyone. My husband went to the hostess to see about getting a quarter (for the toy machine to keep our kids occupied), she said she would get the manager to open the cash drawer, but then neither of them ever returned. Finally, after standing there for ten minutes, a customer sitting at the bar gave him the change he needed. Please work on serving all paying customers. -Also noteworthy- the seven top came in AFTER we had been seated, ordered, drank, paid and left before we were done...

Decided to try something different. Ended up going here, and it wasn't even for the pizza. Our waitress was very nice and made sure we were doing okay while we were waiting for our daughter. We did get the cheese bread appetizer. Started with a half order, then got a whole order. It was so good. The bread was fresh, and the cheese was loaded on the top. I could have just eaten that for a meal. I decided to get a chicken pasta Ceasar salad. Wow!! That was a salad. Also, got the double house margarita on the rocks. My husband got the roast beef poboy. He loved it. The meat was like a homestyle version and so good. Our daughter got buffalo chicken bites and a ham and cheese salad. The chicken bites were not spicy and basically tasted like a chicken cordon blue, and was expecting a spicy popper type kick to it. Overall, it was very good and even had leftovers. We went to JJ's after a long day at the ballpark. We were one of 2 tables in the restaurant when we ordered and our food took over an hour to arrive at the table at 3-4pm in the afternoon. There were several employees and one brought in food from outside, so I guess they were all more worried about feeding themselves. We ordered a Carnivore pizza, and the menu says cheese on top +$1. I didn't see this at the time, but expected to get cheese on the pizza under the toppings. Anyone ever eat a pizza with no cheese? That's basic pizza making. Extra cheese, I would understand, but any cheese at all +$1? Our server did not notify us of this, so we ate a pizza with no cheese, all of the toppings falling everywhere because there was nothing holding it on the pizza.
