This is a strip mall restaurant serving authentic Filipino egg rolls, rice, pancit (thin white rice noodles), and Teriyaki chicken or pork skewers. They also have some amazing-looking desserts that I have not yet tried. This appears to be primarily, a family-run business.
I wanted to go a few times before reviewing, because I didn't want to give a skewed review, based on a too-small sample size - but I was happy at the first bite. I have no experience to compare against other Filipino restaurants, but versus the other Asian-themed restaurants in Brownsburg (and we have several) this is really good.
They have even created "Americanized" egg rolls to entice those fearful of a cuisine they may not yet have experienced. There are crab Rangoon filled, and even Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. Ther are also other limited-run flavors as well. I have tried the crab Rangoon, and it tastes as expected. They are always out of the Philly cheesesteak when I'm there- I guess I need to schedule an earlier trip! This is an indicator it must be good, right?
I have been very pleased with everything I have sampled thus far. The Teriyaki is great - I highly recommend. I have had several different egg rolls, and all have been great. They appear hand-made, although I don't know that to be a fact. They also have a generous amount of filling. These are not just deep-fried wraps with cabbage and little else.
Rice - white or fried, is pretty similar to other Asian rice. The pancit is really good, and it has quickly become my preference over rice - and that's not my normal lean. I highly recommend!
For those unfamiliar with Filipino cuisine (and I am), it's (apparently) not dissimilar to any other Chinese, Japanese, or Thai food you may have tried. In my experience, if you like one, you would probably like them all. They are generally similar, with certain spices taking "center stage" - generally in a mild way.
The people behind the scenes make this place special, and again, while I don't know them, their care and passion shows up in their work. Isn't that what we're all looking for? Give Queen Eggroll a try - I'm sure you'll be a...
Read moreWent for lunch and got the Queen Eggroll Combo which comes with a teriyaki stick, 3 eggrolls (I got 2 crab rangoon eggrolls and a "philly cheesesteak"), fried rice or pancit (I got the pancit and added shrimp), and a drink.
All total the price was $20 and in my opinion, it is just not worth it. Way to over-priced for what you get. The portions are adequate but border on the smaller side. While the shrimp added to the price, without them, it still would have been $16.50 plus tax. The chicken was ok, but probably was only about a 1/4 of a breast worth, the eggrolls are more the size of spring rolls, and the Pancit was a hearty cups-worth. The stars of the show were the Pancit which was good and had a fair amount of shrimp added in, and the crab rangoon eggrolls which were delicious. The "philly" was really not very good and I am not sure what qualified the naming other than it was steak.
When I walked in there were three ladies at the counter ordering, two ladies seated with drinks talking (I assumed they already had eaten - I was wrong), and three other people clearly waiting for their food. Once I ordered, I took my seat and slowly watched each order before me roll (pun intended) out of the kitchen slowly. All total I waited about 20 or so minutes for my food. The guy at the counter was friendly enough so no issues there.
With plenty of other Asian options in town that are more reasonably priced and offer more value, I just don't see this place surviving long once the novelty wears off.
3 stars for the value, 3 stars for the overall service, and 3.5 stars...
