Homemade burgers on the cheap ~$2

I ordered two doubled with extra veggies (no cheese), onion rings, and a Mexican coke. I loved it all.

It also came out to $6.66, so that was cool.

It's the kind of place that has hot sauce on the table next to the ketchup which is characteristic of the Hispanic home hole-in-the-wall type places that make you feel in-the-know on the local level about local restaurants when you find 'em.

Oh, also interesting of note is that one of the cooks is said to have worked at The Rutledge for 15 years--as well as another employee that I think I was told was a waitress.

A friend invited me to have lunch at La Guerra Hamburgers and the moment I took a bite from my burger, I recognized the burger. The taste was unforgettable, it was Rutledge burgers, no doubt about it. I was taken back to my younger years when my mom would shop for hours and I a kid was pulled around by the hand. My mother would finally come to rest at Rutledge for burgers,chips and can soda. In the 70s downtown Brownsville was the mall. Moved here recently from the place that shall not be named out west? Are you missing In & Out? Well, swing by this cute gem near the zoo and downtown Brownsville! Tasty, fast and reasonable prices. Burger immediately reminded me of our favorite hometown legend. Crispy fries too. Yum! All the other fast food burgers here need management to travel around because they just don't quite cut it.
