Brownsville Farmers Market — Local services in Brownsville

Great farmers market with a safe and clean place in a historic district. There was a nice musician making announcements and playing a tune for a tip. We bought bread, some plants and a few other things and enjoyed talking with the vendors who all seemed very knowledgeable about their handcrafted products. Apparently this is the slow part of the season so some vendors were not present. It is also the beginning of a long bicycle trail that goes up to a national monument or park about 5 miles or maybe more away. Farmers markets are meant to be a place where farmers cut out the middle man and sell directly to consumers. This means their produce should be cheaper than places like HEB. But sadly for this farmers market that necessarily isn't the case. So many times I've bought produce from here that looked nice but tasted inferior to whats bought at supermarkets. I feel like the vendors here use the market as a place to jack up their prices. The overall vibe of the place is A+ but I rarely ever make a purchase...

Located on Linear Plaza or Mitte Park Numerous Venders from Cameron County sell organic creams, arts, crafts, natural food, native plants and drinks beginning at 8:00 am Saturday until 11:30 am.. Usually there are talented musicians from Brownsville performing on the plaza. Note: This an area which is a great location to start...
