Grand Plaza Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Bryan

I have always had great experiences going to Grand Plaza. My friends and I have gone for years.. the last 2 times weren’t so great and I don’t believe I will be returning. The one time the waitress didn’t even write down my friend and I’s order so when it came out it was all wrong and we had to ask her for several items that were missing. Then the last time I went my bill was roughly $43 I left $50 on my tab and the waiter took it and never brought my change or a receipt back. Another waiter was walking by so I asked him if he could get my change and receipt. Upon coming back to my table he proceeds to tell me my change was only 33 cents and the waiter must have just thrown it in the drawer and I’m like excuse me? That’s not right can I please have a receipt, then he tells me they don’t give receipts and I’m like what???? & I know My change was not 33 cents as I left $50! he walked away again and I waited there for 10 minutes and my table was literally just avoided while I sat there. So I got up and I left angry and decided to call the next day to talk to a manager. The manager proceeds to tell me I still owed 33 cents and that I could go in and pay that and I could not even believe that. I know my change should have been at least $5 because I have them a certain amount to break a $5 bill to leave a tip. & also my friend who was eating with me seen what I left because I picked up the bill for us. I’m from Tucson, AZ and have been to Mexico frequently throughout my life. I’m a Mexican food snob who moved to the Midwest in adulthood. This is the BEST and most authentic Mexican I’ve found from Columbus to Cincinnati to Dayton and everything in between. Not only in Ohio, but MI and IN. Not only is the food amazing, but you get phenomenal and personalized experience. My family walks in and we get our regular order as soon as we’re seated — they all took time to memorize because we’re regulars. The music is amazing: perfect mix between traditional and more modern music like Bad Bunny and Karol G. The only thing they need is a patio when there’s good weather and it would be paradise on earth! We drive from out of town to visit this place weekly, sometimes multiple times weekly, and have discussed literally moving to be closer lol. Grand Plaza rarely dissapoints.Getting food out was slow but our enchiladas were spot on.Service was normal .The grand plaza is West Coast style Mexican food. Guacamole is made fresh on request some top of the line tequila and Mexican beer with a generally well stocked bar. The margaritas can be huge if your up for diving into a drink .They offer a variety of food in different price points and presentation is a nicely done with hot plates.On one visit I ordered fish Tacos. Tilliapia is the carp of the Amazon.I didn't pay attention that was my fault. But I tried toughing it out.It was a disappointment all-around.It was just shredded cabbage and Tilliapia . Not a nice lime juice cilantro or creamy coleslaw..and it was a small serving .If your using subpar fish why the little tacos?I know we need to be sustainable but No Amazonian carp for me.
