Super rude coffee girl - coming from 22 year old customer service worker hard to piss me off -
I have been coming to this coffee shop for years! As I worked in the village for 5 years myself during highschool at multiple businesses.
Today was unfortunately my first bad experience at a shop in the village. 10/27/25 about 12:30 pm we came in looking for the gilmore girls exhibit- it was over no big deal! An awesome guy at the register was happy to help me recreate sookies latte - super helpful and we tipped 20%.
Unfortunately he forgot to ring me up for oatmilk and the girl who made my coffee used whole, I have health issues and can’t do dairy so I said i’m so sorry but I can’t drink this. Thinking it wouldn’t be a big deal as i’ve worked in customer service for 7 years and this happens all the time.
The girl - long light hair (down by the way not up or in a hairnet) seemed incredibly pissed to remake my drink and then when I went to go grab it she physically withheld my drink and told me I needed to pay the extra dollar for oatmilk. I said oh I asked for oatmilk did he not charge me for it? (Even though he verbally confirmed it was oatmilk). She said no and took my drink away and said she could take me at the register.
Even the nice guy next to her whispered “it’s just a dollar” but she proceeded to ring me up for $1 while avoiding eye contact with me or him. She then made a point to physically hand me the drink instead of just leaving it on the counter - some weird control trip.
I do not care about paying a dollar but that was the most petty experience i’ve ever had in customer service. It was slow it’s a monday and having to remake a drink is not a big deal. Next time she can take the dollar out of the 20% tip we left or she can learn some manners and do her job.
I’ve worked at coffee shops, i’ve bartended in times square, i’ve worked in food service for 7 years and I have never been so petty as to do something like that and have never experienced something like that. Incredibly rude and if she hates her job that much she...
Read moreOk, here’s the thing about Mama Hawk’s. Everything is delicious there. The breakfast sandwiches are on another level than most. But you need to be prepared to WAIT. I was there on a Friday afternoon. It was beautiful out and the village was busy, but I’m in PV a lot and I’ve been used to seeing the MH line out the door. This day the line wasn’t so bad. I ordered ahead on my phone, a cold brew, and one of their special iced lattes. Having worked in food service before and seeing they were moderately busy, I was fine with waiting a while, maybe 10-15 minutes for my drinks. But here’s the thing: we waited half an hour for two iced coffee drinks while the teenagers behind the counter laughed and chatted with each other. The pick up time when I place my order was 3:50 and at 4:15 my husband had to kindly say something. They made our drinks right away when he did, and the drinks were, as always, delicious. But this wait was really excessive in my opinion, especially because no one was moving with any sense of urgency.
I’m not sure I’ll be bothering with this wait anymore, which is a bummer because I’m telling you the food is no joke.
All this to say, IF you can spare the half hour it takes for a cold brew, pop in. But don’t expect your visit...
Read moreWe went to this coffee shop and asked if they could make slight modification to a sandwich. He replied no, so we didn't order a sandwich, just a coffee. Then he sent an option to review through the Square digital Receipt. The comment I made in square was that he was not very flexible.
He replied as follows: "I literally just helped you. We are short staffed and not able to handle special requested. Be kind. I can give you directions to Wawa if that would help" The guy is very rude and does not make you feel warm and fuzzy about ever going there again. You should've answered sorry that we're not able to accommodate you today.
Further more the owner answered the following:
"Be kind or leave, sorry if that offends you. But we just are too short staffed to deal with Karens."
For the owner of a business, he needs to go back to customer training school!! I am completely perplexed why a merchant would respond to a...
