First heard about the Porterhouse Pub by watching a segment on CBS that Victoria Woodall did After seeing the segment on the restaurant we couldn't wait to go and visit

We finally got the opportunity to go during the summer The meal was nothing short of fantastic

We did though experience a problem with the availability and pricing of their bottles of house wines After some investigations the waitress (appeared as if she was not aware) the issue was fixed Their website showed the pricing as $21.00 (which they have an update for that every day) We where told that the pricing was incorrect but they would honor it

Checked back to their web site in a few days and sure enough the price was raised to $24.00 But with all that said it was still a outstanding meal

Having told so many people about how great the experience was we found time again yesterday Friday (12/21/2118) to revisit the pub

I made a reservation for 5:30 for 4 Adults Knowing that we would get there before that time to enjoy their happy hour in the "Bar Area"

BUT there where BIG issues with this staff when it come to where the "Bar Area" is or is not ! Even though I asked when I made the reservation where the bar area was " FIRST COME FIRST SERVED " which is what the girl that took the reservation said And happy was ONLY IN THE "BAR AREA "

After we had drinks I paid the bar tab and thanked the 2 different bartenders for being so nice and was ready to go upstairs to the dining room for dinner

Guess what happened? Same kinda problem as the first time we where there When we get the wine list, they offered Chardonnay by the bottle on the bottle list So we ordered a bottle of their Chardonnay The waitress comes back and informed us it's ONLY sold by the glass I COULD HAVE TOLD HER THAT BECAUSE ON THE WEBSITE THAT'S CLEARLY STATED I thought, But maybe they changed their policy from earlier that day OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T ! She told us Chardonnay ONLY comes in 1.50 bottles not 750 that's way they sell it by the glass So we ordered a bottle of Cabernet 750 When she brings the bottle she let's us know They won't be selling these House wines by the bottle anymore and their discontinuing bottles of house wines and will just be offered by the glass So that was that

And then there was dinner It took nearly 45 minutes after we ordered our meals to get our entrees

My wife ordered a Delmonico Steak LIGHTLY Pittsburghed RARE

Steak comes out FULLY PITTSBURGHED WELL And as tough as could be !

WHAT more can I say We're not sending it back BECAUSE it just might take another 45 minutes to get it replaced

I called this morning and spoke to the "Manager " She came across as if she's heard this story before Didn't even asked me my name or if I would like to have the owner call me back about our experience By the way the owner is who I asked to speak with from the beginning I was told She's was not around till sometime after the holiday JUST NOT WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR

So you decide for yourself if you want to go to the Porterhouse Pub BUT I know that they lost a valued customer in us BUT THEY REALLY DON'T...

This review is for my mother who is not able to write the review. To start off, we have enjoyed our many experiences at the Porter House in the past. We come to the Porterhouse regularly for lunch and dinner and when friends and family come in from out of town, we have always brought them to the Porterhouse.

Yesterday, my mother and 3 friends came in for lunch. To start off, my mother has a shellfish allergy and she is vigilant when she goes out to eat to order foods that are least likely to be cross contaminated with shellfish. For example, she has to avoid eating fries and house made potato chips that are fried in the same oil as shellfish. The two dishes with issue were two Porterhouse salads. Both salads were delivered to the table and as the salads were being eaten, potato chip crumbs were discovered underneath the mixed greens. When the waitstaff was called over, to make sure the chips were not house made like the french fries, the wait staff justified the potato chip crumbs because the kitchen was busy and the bowl of potato chips in the kitchen sits above where all food is being plated. Fortunately the potato chips were "Lays out of a bag" so my mother did not have to worry about cross contamination with the potato chips.

Now, my mother did not discuss her shellfish allergy with the waitstaff before ordering, because nothing on the Porterhouse salad was perceived as a potential hazard due to her shellfish allergy. When the potato chips were discovered underneath the mixed greens (they must of crawled under the mixed greens after a line cook reached over the salad to grab chips for another plate) they waitress pointed out that the praline pecans were fried in the same oil as shellfish. THIS HAZARD WAS NOT AND IS NOT DOCUMENTED ON THE MENU (as of 9:30am on Sat. 12/8/18 when this post is being written-menu picture below)! My mother has ordered this salad in the past not knowing of the cross contamination with the pecans, and thankfully she has not gone into anaphylactic shock but she has had tingly, numbness in her mouth after eating the salad.

After returning home, my mother called the Porter House to speak to the manager about their experience yesterday afternoon and how the waitstaff treated their party, justifying the potato chips and the lack of transparency on the menu with the contaminated pecans. When the manager hopped on the phone, she said, "Oh, your the lady with the shellfish allergy. I am already aware of the situation." My mother shared her concern about the potato chips under the mixed greens and she received the following response, "I will speak to the chef."

My mother was very disappointed that the short response from the manager was that she would speak to the chef. With many wonderful restaurants in the Doylestown/Buckingham area, we will be dining elsewhere to support...

What a disappointment. We're locals, and have dined at the Porterhouse many many times in the past, most of them good experiences. Entertaining out of town company, we went there on a Friday night so we made an early reservation (5:30pm) and requested a window table upstairs. We got there (mandatory valet parking) and the hostess took us upstairs. When I asked earlier about a window table, she said "I believe so", we got up the stairs and there were about 4 open tables next to the windows - great! She took us to one that had a huge rooftop a/c unit filling the entire window. Really? After I requested a window table, you're thinking it wasn't for the view but rather I wanted to look at some industrial hardware? We pointed to one of the other open tables next to the windows and she took us to one of them. Jason was our server - he was the only redeeming feature of the evening, his service was awesome and took care of us very well. We ordered and Jason returned shortly with our salads and soups. We were maybe 1/2 way through our salads when the entrees came to the table - first time I have been there and felt rushed - so they try to fit large plates next to our salad plates and bread plates and even suggested if they could take some of the other smaller plates away to make some room - well, we're not done yet with our salads! Jason apologized that the entrees came out so quickly, obviously not his fault, but it was another blight on our evening. I ordered the 10oz Maytag Filet - medium rare. When I cut into it, it was very rare, looks like it could have stayed on the fire for another 5 minutes or so (which was ironic considering how quickly the entrees came out to our table). Jason was busy, the rest of my table were eating their meals, so I just started in on this very rare piece of meat. When Jason eventually came over to ask how everything was, I pointed out the cook on the steak, he immediately offered to take it back so the kitchen can put it back on the fire, I told him no, I didn't want to sit there while everyone else was finishing up only to have my meal return when they were all done - I'll just take the steak home and will nuke it. Leaving, the valet pulled up our car, jumped out and grabbed his tip from me and then leaned against the valet stand to look at his phone and pulled out his vape pen to his mouth. 3 women with me, he couldn't open the other doors for them? So that was our Friday night at the Porterhouse. We used to recommend it highly to friends and new friends who ask for a good place to eat in our area - I'm afraid that is changing now. We just didn't feel like...

My wife and I stopped here after a day trip to Peddlers Village hoping for an early dinner.. We were greeted in a quick and friendly manner and decided to sit in the upstairs. First impressions were that this is a very nice looking restaurant. We were quickly seated. Our waitress Kelly came over quickly. Although she was not rude, she was not very friendly or very inviting. She took our drink order and when she came back, asked if we were ready to order. I had a question, since we were provided the lunch menu.... And asked if I can order off of the dinner menu we found on their website. Keeping in mind that it was 3:40pm, she said that the dinner menu didn't start until 4 and they are very strict on that, so even with only about 20 minutes to go, we had to order from the lunch menu. My wife and I ordered the crab bisque. It was super flavorful and delicious! We also ordered the dry rub wings and they were also very good. I ordered the shrimp Po Boy sandwich and my wife ordered the crabcake sandwich. The lunch entrees were very tasty, temperature hot and the portions were plentiful. The side dishes that we were given for the wings were dirty. Also, the light above the table looked like it hasn't been cleaned in months with a build up of dust and cob webs and the carpets weren't being kept clean as there was some food on the floors. The appetizers came quickly within minutes but our sandwiches took almost 35 minutes to come out. Attached is a picture of the dirty dish and one of my Po Boy sandwich. We never would have found this place on our own. It is tucked in across from Pedillars Village in New Hope. It is a cute little place with a big upstairs with nice views of the tree farm that extends for acres behind them. Three of us had the wedge salad and it was pretty good. It would have been better if it was cold, but it was more like room temperature on a warm plate. They give you a ton of blue cheese, so don't mix it in right away. The blue cheese was very tasty so I'm guessing if they have wings, that would be a huge plus. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was delicious. It comes with fries and they were cooked perfect as well, nice and crispy. The only nasty thing on my plate was the pickle. My wife had the jumbo shrimp meal called Shrimp Saint Charles. It came with angel hair pasta that she is always asking for when we go out. The sauce was a cream type sauce, not as buttery as you would think with a scampi dish, but she said it was good. The other two meals at our table were the crab cake sandwich and the grouper meal and they both liked their food. The rolls were good that they brought when we sat down, but not a fan of cold butter. The downstairs bar area looked fun with some nicely placed tv's, so we will be back for some sandwiches and watching games. I would definitely tell you to give this place a try. The atmosphere is nice, food was tasty, prices were on point, and the service was quick and friendly!
