I have been going to Dominick's for 15 years. The original location in Norcross is, and always has been, wonderful. I was thrilled when it grew and built a location in Lawrenceville because it was so much closer to home. The Lawrenceville location isn't anywhere near as good as the original, but it was still okay. I have usually had fairly good experiences in Lawrenceville, but other family members have been unimpressed. We just visited the Buford location and had a terrible experience. It seems that this is one of those cases where the larger they get, the lower the quality goes.
We went to the Buford location on New Year's Eve. We expected it would be crowded, so we made a reservation. Because of the holiday, we expected service would be slow. We went in knowing that certain allowances would need to be made for the holiday. We were shocked at how bad it was.
We waited nearly five minutes before we were even greeted. They did have our table ready. However, the table cloth was dirty. I ordered a bubbly wine. It was flat. I asked for a new glass. The second was flat as well. The food was horrible. The meatballs were dry, and the marinara sauce was under seasoned. The marsala sauce looked and tasted like paste. All of the chicken was overcooked. The risotto was overcooked, dry, clumpy, and under seasoned. The risotto was supposed to come with tiger shrimp, but it had just regular cocktail shrimp that was rubbery and flavorless. Our server never came to check on us after we received our food. We watched him for over fifteen minutes and were never able to get his attention. We finally asked another server to get him. We had to wait another five minutes before he came. Our server did take my meal, the risotto, off the ticket since I ate maybe three bites. He offered to bring something else, but I had no confidence that anything else would be of any quality. We asked to see the manager, but he never came. Our server said that he asked the managed to come see us twice. I will grant that the whole restaurant was in the weeds, and the manager was performing multiple roles. It was clear that several people had not shown up. However, the fact that the manager never actually came to see us is inexcusable. After thirty minutes of waiting for the manager, we left. On the way out, I grabbed the manager and told him all of this. He apologized profusely, but did nothing more. He asked that we come again when they were less busy. However, I have no desire to repeat this experience.
My fiancé and I are getting married in October. We were considering the Buford Dominick's as a rehearsal dinner venue. We love the ambience in both the Norcross and Lawrenceville locations and have typically had good experiences in both locations. However, we were wrong to assume the Buford location would be as good as the other locations. Needless to say, I will not return, and we will not have our rehearsal dinner there even though it is the only restaurant in town with a private room large enough to accommodate our whole party. This location is giving all the others a...

I recently had the unfortunate experience of organizing a dinner party at Dominic’s Italian restaurant in Buford, and I must say that I am extremely disappointed with the outcome. We had made reservations for a small dinner party of 13 well in advance, a couple of months prior to our event on December 16. Upon making the reservations, the owner of the restaurant even sat down at our table, took our information, and assured us that our reservation was secured. He added our details to the restaurant's calendar, or so we thought.
A week before our scheduled event, we realized that we had not received a confirmation call for our dinner reservations, which raised some concerns. When we called the restaurant two hours prior to the event, we were shocked to hear that there were no reservations in our name. The owner informed us that he had no knowledge of our reservation and had closed the restaurant for two private parties that evening.
Despite our insistence that the owner had personally taken our information and assured us of our reservation, he denied having our details in his reservation book and claimed ignorance of the entire situation. This left us in a difficult position with only two hours left before our event, forcing us to scramble to find an alternative restaurant for our dinner party.
This experience was not only deeply disappointing but also highly unprofessional. The lack of accountability and the owner's refusal to acknowledge the error made the situation even more frustrating. As a result, I cannot recommend Dominic’s Italian restaurant in Buford to anyone looking to host a special event or make reservations for a large group. The failure to honor our reservations and the subsequent inconvenience caused by the restaurant's negligence left a lasting negative impression.
In conclusion, the handling of our reservation by the owner of Dominic’s Italian restaurant was extremely disappointing, and it is regrettable that such a promising event was marred by this avoidable issue. I hope that the restaurant takes steps to improve its reservation management and customer service to prevent similar experiences for future patrons.
I hope this review helps shed light on the challenges we faced and encourages the restaurant to address its...
Read moreMy sister bought a $60 gift card to Dominick's for my wife and daughters to use a while back. Decided to use it for dinner and found out on-line that Dominicks had dinged our card for $26 in monthly non-use fees.Called Dominicks and spoke to Coy, who said he was a manager. I told him about the gift card charges and he was very quick to inform me that I should have read the fine print on the back of the card that stated two dollars would be deducted each month the card was not used. He said it happens often and that customers should always read the small print. He emphatically stated that he would/could do nothing. Since he made it abundantly clear that there was no resolution to my situation I asked who his boss was and Coy stated that would be the general manager and his name was Alex. I asked to speak with Alex and Coy stated he was not at the restaurant. I asked when Alex would be in and Coy stated that he never knew when Alex would be working and that he seldom saw Alex.I asked Coy if I could have Alex's phone number and Coy stated he was not allowed to give the number out as unhappy customers might try and call him. I then asked if Coy would give Alex my phone number and ask Alex to call me. Coy stated that Alex rarely returns calls. True to Coy's word I have not received a return call from Alex. Rather than get charged more fees my wife later ordered some food and had my daughters pick it up. They over charged us by $4.00 and when my daughter asked about the fees they quickly showed my daughters the fine print on the card that stated the $2.00 fee. It is interesting to note that the manager failed to mention the next sentence on the card which stated that management could waive the fee at their discretion. Rather than cause a scene my daughter paid the charges. Dominicks kept the gift card and did not give her a receipt for either the gift card or the credit card slip for the extra charges.
Dominicks gained $26 in the short term . For $26 Dominicks could have created a tremendous amount of good will. Now they have very unhappy customers who will affect others buying decisions when they tell their Dominicks...
