Huge rant to I Heart Tacos. Hubby and I went to the one by Target. We have been here a few times with not too much issue. The loud music will sometimes be too much and I will get my order to go. Other than that, things have been ok. Today we were eating in. We ordered the daily tacos and a carne asada potatoes to share. Tacos were good. The potatoes were a different story. Let me explain this dish a little. It's baked potato slices with steak, cheese, sour cream, etc. The potatoes were a little cold but edible. That wasn't a huge deal and is forgivable. The thing that really did it was I pulled a potato from the plate to eat and saw one side of it looked like it had been stored in the fridge for a month! It was all dried out and disgusting. I was like, ok, I'm done. I finished up my last taco and got ready to head out. I decided to let them know what happened. I took the plate to the cashier and showed her. She asked if I wanted a replacement order or a refund. I didn't want another one after the experience we had and needed to head to a doc appointment. I told her a refund would be fine. She went to get the manager. While she's gone, another employee comes by and tosses the food in the trash. It happened so fast and at first I thought it was the manager. Anyways, she comes back with the manager and I explain the food was just tossed in the trash. They dig out the food and the manager says that he can't refund us for the potatoes since only one piece was bad. This man picked through the entire plate looking for other bad potatoes! He tried to tell me that sometimes they can be overcooked and get a little dry. This was not the case at all. It was more like it was sitting on a plate, in the fridge, and just drying out, on the exposed side of the slice. It's almost like he's accusing us of doing something wrong. I wouldn't have ate any of it if that disgusting piece was the first I came across. It's not my fault it was buried in the plate. I didn't have time to deal with being talked to like I was. I told him it was fine then and I would not be returning. I'm disgusted that I even ate any of it now. At this point I hope that since it wasn't very hot, we're not going to get sick from this. I should have taken a reference pic but did not expect to have the experience I did with this...
Read moreThe food here is something to set this establishment apart from all the other Mexican food restaurants... I have taken the time to not just try the different options they have in comparison to all the other Mexican restaurants but to speak with the owner about his future plans and goals for his wonderful establishment.
I have not had a taco that didn't make me want another his baja shrimp tacos are OTW the Lengua they prepare is the best in the tri state, tender, flavorful and consistent and not filled with cheek like others...
I love the fact that you can get fries with all of their meat options, unlike others with Carne asada fries the wow factor is in the option and the flavors that come with, one of my favorite fries is the Alpastor fries.
Mulita never had one before this establishment, and I've now had them all, and Suaredo is by far my favorite one
Their spiciest sauce is full of flavor and truly a creation from the owner, and while I've noticed it tends to mild out days after it is made (this is coming from a daily patron for nearly a month), it still has an amazing flavor... the owner has had serrano peppers grilled with lemon and salted for me, and these are OTW ... all of their sauces are robust and explosive with flavor, so if you are not a fan of spice, they may still have just the sauce for you.
I'm not a fan of the burritos with rice and beans but my brother loves them... in my opinion, rice and beans only belong in a vegetarian burrito which yes I order and eat vegetarian burro at other establishments...
There isn't a single thing I've ordered that has left me dissatisfied
I hope the owner expands his reach far and wide with his amazing food... and that if he ever franchises his recipes that each location upholds and produces his high quality good food
And that his staff follows him...
