2025.03-22/SAT_0830: After golf, we decided to see our favorite server, Janelle! We got two new dishes today! It was 8:30 am in the morning so we knew it would be a great time to go! Plus, if we are making this our only meal of the day, we'll make it really good!
We had their Arnold Palmer and my favorite, fresh Strawberry Lemonade. We ordered the Chicken Finger appetizer to start! Love their BBQ dipping sauce. I'm not allergic to it at all! Their Chicken Fingers are made fresh so we always order that first before having Janelle take our order. She reminded us about the long ticket time last time and she always makes sure the timing is proper on our meals - that's why we love her!
Today we got two different things we normally never order. We got the Big Boy Scramble and the Country Boy Breakfast. The Big Boy Scramble was srambled eggs loaded with tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, ham, and it's topped with Cheddar Cheese. We got it with a side of Home Fries and Sourdough toast. The Country Boy Breakfast is two biscuits topped with sausage, served with eggs and topped with gravy! We got that with a side of fruit. I had no idea that they would stack all of that and top it with gravy! It was one of the best things in life - sausage, biscuits and gravy! If they had grits, that would've been top notch!
We had an awesome experience as always but I give most of that credit to Janelle and the cooks they have at Bob's Big Boy. The customer service is always stellar as well as their quality of food. The cooks are consistent and you always have perfectly cooked food. Nothing has changed after a decade which suggests that Bob's Big Boy must take care of their employees because you have servers that have been there for decades, too. Truly a gem for a landmark restaurant.
2024.09-06/FRI_1800: We decided to visit Bob's Big Boy before the car show started and figured out wouldn't be too busy - we were wrong! This was the first time we showed up at a busy time. It was still busy but a party of two is never a long wait. We sat down in ten minutes. It was great. Had we known our favorite server, Janelle was working, we would've requested her section! We always see her early in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays. We had no idea she worked nights! Sorry, Janelle! We definitely had a great time still because the ambiance there is like your hometown diner! Janelle saw us and greeted us. We love her!
Today we had something out of the ordinary - their Fried Fish and Shrimp dinner. We also started with the Chicken Strips appetizer, too. Holy moly. Their Chicken Strips were super duper tender. The breading was DELICIOUS, too. They send them with ranch and a little 2 oz. souffle cup of their BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce was tasty! I just loved the smell of the Chicken Fingers when they arrived! I can't explain it. My Fish and Shrimp dinner was also scrumpdiliumcious! The breading wasn't excessive and just hot and tender. I'm not sure how they make the breading but it was perfect! Instead of fries, I got mashed potatoes and fruit. Even better, my dinner came with a salad, too. Talk about some delicious food. We were trying to save room for dessert but of course, we didn't make it so when we left, we got our since of Strawberry Pie to go! You know how much we love their Strawberry Pie - we bought four of them for my birthday! Just to let you know, their Strawberry Pie can feed a lot of people! When is in season, I suggest you buy a pie because you can't get that homemade pie anywhere else in the city. Believe me...
