It pains me to write this. I have been a huge Fosters fan for the last 45 years. Fosters has the best soft ice cream base in the world--so clean and fresh in its vanilla. I have been a customer of the Burbank store for over 30 years (but less so in past years as I moved away).
Anyway, for nostalgia and to support local companies during COVID, I recently drove my family back to Burbank for a round of Twisters. We were so excited. When I have gotten Twisters in the past, the recipe has been simple: ice cream and the mix-in. This week, the local store made the Twister with milk added and several spoons of a THICKENER. The resulting color (now yellow from the thickener) and taste (no longer the clean vanilla Fosters is famous for) was a huge disappointment. This was not the same (and in fact, not really good).
I know stores are struggling, and I feel for them. The prices at the Burbank store have also gone through the roof (to laughable levels really), and they now charge $1 to use a credit card (which seems excessive). But I was willing to pay to support a local business in times of trouble. But a business cannot compromise their quality and product like this. So sad, as it was a part of...
Read moreBorn and raised SoCal always heard about foster freeze on the same sentence as In n Out as a SoCal landmark. Never actually been as Everytime I've tried it's either closed, not taking cards, shut down ( looking at you Glendale).
Burgers are average similar tasting to any diner burger. Beef was underwhelming not much flavor seasoning faintly tasted. Lettuce tomato onion and foster sauce (thousand islands by the taste of it) were the predominant flavors.
Fries were crinkle cut and larger than usual. The good ones were crispy and fluffy on the inside a quarter of the fries were limp and raw and hard inside.
The star of the show was the soft serve ice cream. Honestly it was really good. Most companies use similar mixes for their soft serve and If you been around the rodeo you can taste it. Icecream was a little sweet, the perfect texture served inside a cake cone. Classic fare but the vanilla flavor was cleaner the milk taste was fresher.
I'd stop buy just for the icecream if...
Read moreI was driving by and saw this place and made a quick stop. Although it has a full menu, i was looking for a dessert as i had already eaten. I chose the drive thru as I was rushed on time to get to my appt. The lady at the window courteous. I asked about the TWISTER. She told me the different flavors it comes in. I decided on the REESES TWISTER. Fyi its $1 dollar extra if not paying cash (thanks to the banks). To say it was delicious would be an understatement. There were about 4 cars ahead of me, yet the time it took to get my order was about 5 minutes. Definitely stopping here again.....
Update 7/19/2022: stopped in today as the inclement weather called for something cold. Once again quick and accurate service and great tasting product. We had the strawberry sunday (yum), strawberry cheesecake Twister (also yum), and the Reeses Cup Twister (my...
