Def my fave Jamaican spot in the area by far. My go-to for beef patties (and chicken patties), oxtail, and rum cake. Staff is cool (for a Jamaican spot LOL).
Beef patty is nice an flaky, and filling is chef's kiss. No offense to the other spots around the area, but this is my gold standard for beef patty.
Oxtail is also my fave from the area. Maybe it's just habit, but everytime I order oxtail from a different spot, it doesn't hit the same as Jamaic's.
Jerk chicken is cool. Kinda got tired of it years ago, so I rarely order it when I go. Only so much jerk chicken one man can have before his body just want something else.
Curry goat and curry chick is cool. Personally not my fave thing to order, but if that's your cup of tea, then go ahead.
Now the RUM CAKE!! I don't know who makes it, or where they get it from, but this is one of the best rum cake I've ever had from a store! It's dense, moist, perfectly drenched, chef's kiss. A lil expensive for a slice, but I get it everytime I stop by.
I tried the fish once. I'm not really a fish person, so it wasn't really a memorable experience for me.
Overall, I would say try the patties at least once, try the jerk chicken and oxtail at least once, and try the rum cake...
Read moreI have been to this restaurant may be three times before today. I went in and I ordered my usual oxtail plate with rice and peas and cabbage. When I go in, it’s always literally less than $20 for a nice plate of food and good service. I get home and I realize that not only was I overcharged in my meal literally came out to $35 but I only had three pieces of oxtail and rice. This is the first time that the food not only was extremely out-of-pocket with the price but the food taste and smelled like it was from three days ago. I am from the south Bronx who relocated to New Jersey and I’ve been coming here three times before and I had a great experience great food great everything. So go today all the way from South Jersey to now get home and have terrible food on a plate and then realize that I was overcharged literally almost $20 out rages and I am done. You guys have lost the customer and I will not go back because if they think that you’re not from around there or you don’t know what’s really going on, they’ll take advantage of you and take your money and give you nasty scraps from days ago because that’s what it taste like , thank you but no thank you yeah, serving was disrespectful and tasteful along with nasty....
Read moreAverage-Sub par compared to other Carribean places in the area. With the limited menu and just okay food, I left feeling a bit disappointed. I got the Jerk chicken with rice and beans and the Jerk Chicken wasn't spicy at all. The chicken portion was also a bit small but for the price, I guess the smaller portion makes sense. The rice and beans weren't seasoned either and since the jerk chicken sauce was lackluster (not bad, just not anything special), the rice and beans left more to be desired. I also got the beef pattie with coco bread, which was okay but also lacking the spice and flavors I crave in a beef pattie! I ordered take out with a group and the consensus was that the plantains were good, while the oxtail was just okay - I didn't try either of these myself though. The staff friendly, but was I bit turned off by the fact that they were eating and using bare hands while preparing our food. Maybe this is normal? It was hard to miss here because you can see their entire setup just from standing at the register. Overall, I only tried this place because Delicious Dishes was closed and the ratings looked good, but I probably...
