Western Charcoal Steak House — Restaurant in Burlington

We pass by this place often and, after being curious enough to overlook the outside aesthetics, decided to go check reviews. So many reviews gave this place high ratings and talked of wonderfully nice service and good food with a smaller price range. Okay! That sounds decent so, we went in. We immediately noticed a rough interior but were greeted by the nicest staff. The hostesses were so kind, the waitress was nice without being overbearing. We decided to stay and order. I got the chicken sandwich with cheese, coleslaw, and fries. My husband got the chuckwagon steak with fried okra and fries. While waiting for our food, we were brought out the most delicious hush puppies. They were light and airy and seemed to almost melt in your mouth with deliciousness. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal and even a little of mine. I have to say that I am glad we went ahead and ventured in because my meal was delicious. The only complaint I'd have was that, although very tasty with a nice charcoal flavor, the chicken on my sandwich was a bit tough and only slightly overcooked. I'd suggest to anyone to overlook the failing decor and go in to have a yummy meal with a great staff and at a very affordable price range. It's one of the better diamonds in the rough that...

Went for dinner and tried Johnny's Special KC steak. Not bad, but I opted for onion rings. I don't know what I expected but the onion rings were rather firm and not very hot. They were done, but I didn't particularly care for them, myself. The steak was good with a nice flavor, but almost over cooked.itnalso states that all entrees are served with special garlic bread but I don't recall ever getting any garlic bread. There is a nice family atmosphere here where large tables as well as small tables (individuals) are all made to feel welcome. The only caveat is the cashier is located in an odd spot, making a bottleneck when you come in. It's not a very quiet place if there is a large table but that's okay. My first time at the place I ordered the barbecue all white chicken with cream potatoes and steamed cabbage to stay. also ordered the same exact items for my wife to take home that i ate for lunch. went home my wife ate the food that I brought her home 2 hours later I was vomiting and on the bowl an hour and a half later. 2 hours later my wife was doing the same exact thing we both got food poisoned don't know if it was the cream potatoes or steamed cabbage might have even been the chicken nonetheless we both ate the same exact meal and got sick hours apart.. sorry to say that was the first time and definitely the last time that I will go there.
