Update: A few days after I posted this review the restaurant reached out to me and refunded the amount they charged for the Baklava that was out of stock.

Original Review: I can't believe I even have to write this review, but I'm absolutely furious about my experience at Bombay Chaat. Let me start by saying that I understand that takeout food isn't always the healthiest option, but what they served me was beyond unacceptable. When I opened my order, all I could see was a container swimming in a sea of oil (check out the pics if you don't believe me). It was so disgusting that I had no choice but to throw the entire dish away. This was not just unappetizing; it was an absolute rip-off!

But wait, it gets even worse. I made it crystal clear that if a certain item wasn't available, they should cancel it. But what did they do? They had the audacity to substitute an item I ordered with something I didn't want (laddu instead of baklava), and to top it off, they had the nerve to charge me the full price for the original item! It's clear that they care more about squeezing every last penny out of their customers than actually meeting their needs.

The only reason they even get one star from me is because the bland Vada Pav was at least edible and resembled the correct item. But honestly, it's a small consolation for such a terrible overall experience. Bombay Chaat, you should be ashamed of yourselves for the awful service and food quality you provide. I won't be coming back, and I strongly advise others to steer clear of this place unless you enjoy being ripped off and served...

Our experience was decent when the place first started a few months back. But our last three visits has been really bad. I wish I would take time to write in detail about all that I have experienced lately but without going into too much details about all of it, I will summarize what I encountered during my latest visit (which prompted me to write this) -

I ordered Bombay sandwich and the cheese was not melted. The sandwich was not grilled. It had raw vegetables, was served cold, had soggy bread. Over all, it was 1/5

The pani puri counter was out and they said they can only give it as a take out. Surprisingly, it was on a "unlimited pani puri" day. Sure, lets say they actually don't offer that anymore. One of the highlights of the pani puri is the puri they say its home made (and it is) and its a good quality one. But for the takeout, they gave the ones you get in stores. When I asked them why, especially when they had heaps of boxes of their own puri, their reply was "we had these left which we had to get rid of. so we gave it to you". Very very bad customer service.

This was the last straw. They don't care about you anymore. They only care about $$$. I am not visiting this place anymore. And do yourself a favor and don't have high expectations when you go to...

Update: Incredibly disappointed with my most recent trip here. Apparently they are selling the place to someone else and the food quality has become terrible.

The pani puri was terrible. Bought-in rava pooris and the pani tasted of nothing except salt. They removed the only table in the place so you can't even eat there any more. Half the dishes weren't available.

I can no longer advise that you visit here. We will not be back.

This little takeout place tucked into a corner at Hillside Plaza has excellent food. The flavors are there and so delicious.

We ordered pani puri, vada pav, dahi papdi chaat, aloo tikki chole chaat, and sugarcane juice. The young man at the counter was very friendly and helpful.

Everything was great. I'm very picky about my pani puri and this was delicious, spicy and tangy. Dahi papdi chaat was perfectly seasoned. Vada pav came with robust chutneys. Aloo tikki chole was again, perfectly seasoned.

This is a vegetarian place that also has an "Egg Zone" section on the menu for you eggetarians :)

Definitely recommend Bombay Chaat for your chaat...

Update April 21 .. Feedback taken seriously- deserves one additional star ⭐️.. Tried their misal pav comes close to the authentic taste from India. Warning served ⛔️ don’t dare if you can’t handle spices .. this is hot / 🌶️. Well done team Bombay chat. …………………. New Chaat / Indian street food joint has opened in town as of yesterday. Currently they are not offering any seating until summer. You will have to do a take out. The menu is limited to snacks / Indian street food, however they will soon be starting a tiffin service for lunch and dinner. The lunch service will have curry, naan, rice etc. We ordered vadapav and Chole bhature. The vadapav came with a bonus of mirchi pakora. The chole had a layer of oil floating on it and the bhature were hard ( probably result not frying at the optimal temperature). If they have to sustain the competition with nearby Indian restaurants, imo they need to up the game to stand out from the rest.

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant but left deeply disappointed by the experience. Pros: Ample parking and friendly service. The food was inexpensive, and we received a complimentary dessert (gulab jamun), which was delicious. Cons: Nearly everything else fell short. The dine-in setup is highly inconvenient, with no proper seating—essentially requiring you to stand while eating, which isn’t ideal for a comfortable meal. 1. The bread pakora was excessively greasy, soaking through multiple napkins. The filling was identical to what’s typically used in a masala dosa, which felt out of place. 2. The raj kachori was passable but difficult to eat, as it was too hard to break with just plastic spoons. 3. The parantha was surprisingly stuffed with the same filling as the bread pakora, which was odd. The two accompanying curries were unrecognizable and lacked clear flavor or identity.
