“Chicken… chick… chicken..” the worker said, barely managing to form coherent words. His tenuous grasp of the english language becoming ever more evident as each mindless repetition of the word fumbled from his mouth. This was the first sign of things to come for my supper this lamentable evening.
When I placed my order, I posed a simple question, “could you make the chicken cutlet sub parmesan?”. This question, irreducible in complexity, proved too difficult for the attendant. “Chicken cutlet AND chicken parm sub?” the simpleton replied. After repeated clarification, I ended the call with the precarious hope that I would receive the one thing I asked for free from any errors.
Scene II
Christopher enters scene with the submarine sandwich tucked safely under his arms and proceeds to sit down
I proceeded to undress the sub from it’s paper garments, hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. As I peeled back the last piece of aluminum foil, I dropped the sandwich and screamed “EEEEHHHKK!!!” Nothing could have prepared me for the unspeakable horror that lied behind that foil.
Limp, soggy chicken fingers smothered in a ragu, with a stick of string cheese wedged in between the buns. No chicken cutlets anywhere to be found.
I stood there in flabbergasted disbelief, rubbing my eyes to ensure that the loathsome victuals that would later haunt my dreams were indeed right before me!
I begrudgingly decided to give this garbage one bite before tossing it out the window into oncoming traffic. If it is not immediately evident to the laymen, I did not find the sub to taste very well. I am...
Read moreI heard all about the famous North Shore Beef and Nick's Place sure did not disappoint. The family was in the Boston area for an extended weekend and this was one of my stops. I ordered a Super Beef 3 way, Greek Fries, a Meatball bowl and a Jr. Beef.
First off, the portion sizes are huge. Not only that, but the food was delicious and quality did not suffer. I've had bigger portion sizes in other places and the quality and taste suffered a little...this wasn't the case here. Tons of food with tons of flavor.
The Super Beef lived up to hype and then some. My only regret is that I didn't buy more to take home back to Jersey! I had plenty left over from the Super Beef, but that was devoured and thoroughly enjoyed later that night in the hotel.
Not only was the food excellent, but the staff was quite pleasant as well. The one cashier came by our table and gave my kids a box of toys to choose from...I thought that was such a nice gesture and my kids were very happy!
Overall, Nick's was such a great experience. If I'm ever back in the area, I will be sure to...
Read moreCame here the day before Thanksgiving, because my family and I were picking up some books at the used book superstore down the street, and NICK'S DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The pizza was delicious. We tried the cheese, meat lovers, and Thanksgiving (maybe limited time menu item). I love making sandwiches with the leftovers from Thanksgiving, it's literally the best part of having leftovers in my opinion, but normally I'm forced to wait till black Friday. Not this time baby! The Thanksgiving pizza was perfect, it had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce, and I got to have it on a Wednesday!
Also the owner seemed like a really good guy. The day before the holiday and he was over there working hard, which I have high respect for. He was polite and personable. I think the Thanksgiving pizza was his idea, which I also have high respect for!
I highly recommend the place, we will be back whenever...
