Boston Sandwich Shop — Restaurant in Burlington

i ordered a breakfast sandwich hasbrowns and coffee ...i asked for extra onions on my hashbrowns. the bill for theses 3 items was $9.05...when i gawked at the price, the woman told me that the extra onions were $1.25...i was in total disbelief...when i got home, i called and asked the woman...if i ordered a cheeseburger and asked an extra slice of cheese on it, how much would the extra cheese cost...she said, "40 cents"...so i said you mean to tell me that an extra slice of cheese is 40 cents but extra onions on hashbrowns is $1.25????...she said "mmm hmmm"...i told her that was outrageous and her response was "you know how these greeks is"...my parting words were"you tell the "greeks" that i am outraged, i will NEVER be back and i will tell...

I'm new-ish to the area, been here for a few years now with my husband, and we finally got around to checking out this Burlington classic. Not quite what I expected it to have, which was an array of unique sandwiches (like a Subway, I guess, but local?). They do have some sandwiches, but it's more like classic, southern, small town hamburger shop food, think thin patty burgers, bbq sandwich, fish sandwich, hamburger steak plate, etc. It's alright if you know what you're getting yourself into, and it was honestly just what I wanted tonight. Server was sweet and the cashier was helpful with the gumball machine when my husband had some trouble with it, lol. Food is superrrrr cheap, so basically it's an alright spot for a quick mid-week...

This is not the Boston Sandwich Shop I remember. The cheesedogs had a small block of cheese in the center of the bun. There was like an inch and a half on each side to the end of the bun. The chili had a plastic taste to it. Only ate a few bites and didn't finish it, the other one I thew away. Ordered french fries with gravy and fries were under cooked, the gravy tasted kind of burnt and old. My mother's hot steak and gravy with fries was the same. So for 2 cheese dogs, ff with gravy, hot steak with gravy ff and slaw, and a sprite was 25$. Not worth the money. 20 years ago it was great. Miss Mona was the best server back then.
