“ GO TO MELLOW MUSHROOMS IN BURLINGTOn INSTEAD!! Amazing!! FOOD AND SERVICE!
don’t worry about it, this meals on us”. That all I heard waitresses telling customers because everything was so bad! I continued to order take out food for my family as we visit this restaurant every Wednesday night and we loved the service!
Fast forward, I get home , look at my food and there’s hardly any cheese steak on my large subs. The bread is all broken and wet. I immediately call the supervisor on duty. He was awesome! He even agreed he knew it was bad. He then Told me he spoke with the owner and owner agreed we can return and my families meal would be free.
We show back up to the restaurant two days later and the restaurant waitress verified the incident, saw my name in the book and agreed to our meal being taken care of. This was verified before we placed our food order.
Fast forward, we eat our meal the waitress brings our check and apologizes stating the owner will only take off one sub. We asked to speak to the owner and he refused to see us. I questioned if it was because our race, because I witnessed a group of white families having their meals free of charge due to bad service with no question. The owner never spoke to us even though he was only a few feet away. It was extremely disappointing. We paid for our meal, but We will no longer be making our Wednesday trips to this restaurant due to the owners poor customer service.
Can not support a business who’s owners don’t respect the people financially keeping them...
Read moreI have to give the food a mixed review. The steak and cheese sandwiches: delicious! The poutine: terrible! It is not common to find poutine around here but I was very excited to see it advertised and came to Hwy 55 specifically for this. The cheese curds instead of being melted on the fries were deep fried and tasted just like solidified mozzarella sticks. The gravy was too thick, salty, and lukewarm. The fries were fine. The steak and cheese sandwiches (I had a regular steak and cheese, I tried my dining partner's jalapeno steak and cheese) were delicious. I don't remember the last time that I had sandwiches with bread so soft and chewy, a huge pile of fresh vegetables (mushrooms, green peppers, and onion; jalapeno for the second session). There was plenty of cheese. The only thing wrong with the sandwiches were that my sandwich was a bit lacking in meat but the other sandwich had plenty of meat so I think it was just a one time oversight.
The decor was wonderful! Huge murals on the walls of 1950s scenes that made us laugh, vintage style tables and booths, and even a pink "payphone" behind the register.
With tip, the cost of two sandwiches, two drinks, and a tray of poutine (much more expensive than getting fries or gravy fries)...
Read moreTried to order over the phone. Apparently, the online menu is completely different than what is on a menu in store(according ro Lindsay). The girl that answered the phone, Lindsay, kept interrupting me throughout the entire ordering process. At the very beginning of my order I said I'd like Shrimp..she interrupted, tried to continue, she interrupted...She also asked after everything I was able to say I wanted, if that was all I was going to order. She interrupted so much she had to keep going back and asking if I wanted fries/tots, with this or that. If she had hushed long enough to let me finish, I was trying to say what I wanted as far as fries/tots. I cancelled my order. Might try again if management will train staff on how to not interrupt and be so rude to customers over the phone. My child, whom is four, has better manners...
