Worst experience EVER!! I was sold pies that turned to mold in two days! I purchased four pies a Sm cheesecake, four cookies and two brownies from J&B on Tuesday 11/22/16 late afternoon. Cost $82.79 . Within two days ( stored in refrigerator of course!!!) the pies were covered in mold!!! Unnoticed accidentally My eldest son ate pie from J&B for dessert on Thanksgiving and became ill that evening! We couldn't understand why as no one else was ill that attended dinner! WELL, we certainly found out the mystery!! Only having pies in my refrigerator for 2 days they were completely covered in MOLD!! I called store and spoke to girl who said "sometimes they are made ahead of time and having moisture in box may have done the trick"! I was put on hold to have manager take call and insinuate that I did not refrigerate the pies, he said his pies have no preservatives and only have two days to be consumed from date purchased! I sent manager pictures of MOLDY PIES three days after purchase at his request and explained that I was out of town for holiday and would return on Monday with pies for refund! (Clearly principal of matter) I return on Monday with really bad looking pies only to be insulted with offer of a $25.00 gift certificate! When purchase cost $82.79. That's REALLY BAD BUSINESS! I was insulted by manager continuously in our conversation suggesting that my son was sickened by something else as he was sick for a week himself, and that I didn't care for pies properly therefore they turned to mold in 2 days! Also suggesting that I had these pies for a week and want to return them now because they are spoiled! I reminded him of the pies being spoiled after speaking to him only three days after having purchased these pies!! I told him I would be more comfortable with getting a refund for the spoiled food and he told me that was not possible !!! Therefore I just want to put it out there for all of you in the area to avoid this place if you do not plan on entirely consuming what you purchase from J& B Bakery within 24 hours!!! Disgraceful! I did not except his $25 gift certificate offer as I do not plan to ever...
Read moreIt’s really upsetting to go to a family small business and get treated with an attitude. We got to the bakery and all we see is young teenagers at the register which is nice to see young people working. But the only difference is that they were just there hanging out. We waited for a few minutes to be help because they were busy talking. The one girl at the register name starts with an N don’t want to say her name because am not trying to embarrass her was eating chipotle and probably got upset because we came at her lunch at 6:30 pm or so.
We wanted to get a few things and as we waited patiently for help she seemed bothered that we were there to bring the business money. So we ordered some biscotti and when she pulled the sheet of biscottis some of them fell on top of other cookies because she pulled it hard like she was upset. So we kept our composure and was trying to finish ordering so that we can go home and enjoy our dessert. Then my wife asked a question about what flavors were the pastries and she had another attitude. So long story short. I told her that we didn’t want the cookies or the pastries anymore because of her nasty attitude the bakery lost a customer. I asked to speak to the owner which supposedly his name is Steve. I will be calling to speak to him tomorrow. It’s sad that I will no longer be going to a local bakery. I will drive out of my way and go to L&M which the older people has more customers service and better pastries and donuts and no attitudes. This young generation will shut down any business. They need to learn some respect. I hate writing bad reviews but this is the only way that they hear about my experience.
As I read other reviews other people had the same experience. Make sure to read all bad reviews. By the way we ended up going to ShopRite to get some dessert. Thank you for your bad service. And they probably won’t respond because they don’t care because it all starts...
Read moreWe needed a wedding cake. We went to another bakery first that people said was good and has been working with our restaurant in recent years. It was awful! RUDE and poor quality. Evidently, it USED to be good. That was the former owner. I'd never go back.
Thankfully, I knew about JB Bakery on High St, and were able to make an appointment to see Sarah, their cake lady. What a delightful experience we had with her!! We used their freezer case to spread it all out (although a small table and two chairs would have been good, but they are tight on extra room). She was patient, helpful and looked at the pictures I had on my phone. Her samples were all well-labeled and delicious. Everything was so good it was hard to decide! And much to my delight, the complicated designs I hoped for were one yes after another!! She knew her stuff and was able to help us figure out how much to order. ( While we were there I saw a ton of other stuff we want to come back for later that I didn't remember they had.)
Well, when that cake arrived at Carlucci's Waterfront this last Sunday right before the wedding (so it would be fresh), it was spectacular!!! Sarah did an incredible job and it was absolutely delicious. They even gave us an extra box so we could bring home the top layer to freeze for our anniversary. ( Yes, I put it in double 2 gallon zip locks, out of the box.) And there was a little left over for us to...
