I had some friends over for some card games and dinner. We called in the order and I went to pick it up. While cashing out I noticed a large stainless salad bowl full of battered uncooked chicken just sitting out on the counter uncovered. I figured it was almost closing time, maybe it was just prepped for tomorrow? Who knows. After returning home we began to dig in. Unfortunately there wasn't anything that was enjoyable and the "Chicken and Broccoli" was not even edible. Upon opening the cover it was rubbery under cooked chicken and it smelt like bad fish. The Lo Mein was incredibly greasy and the chicken fingers were tough like they were old or reheated or something. Upon complaining the front counter attendant called the owner and she was instructed to give me $20 out of the tip jar and said "that's the best we can do"... We ordered pizza and will not return. Should note there was a bug problem being ignored right at the counter....
Read moreWhen this place first opened as China Star in the CVS plaza, there were a lot of good dishes with a few misses. They slowly went downhill and skimping on things, like using regular mushrooms instead of straw mushrooms. When they became News Star, they raised all of their prices 3.00. you can rely on the sticky wings and chicken wings, but they cheap out by using spaghetti, not chinese noodles, in the lo mein (yuck). Very little meat in the stir fry dishes.General Tso's is soggy. They still use regular mushrooms. I think they raised their prices to pay for the new place. I live down the street from News Star, I either drive to Uxbridge or Woonsocket for my Chinese take out...even if it is snowing. That should tell you something.
Update: 3/26/17. Got a hankering for Chinese again...off...
Read moreI went in to pay for my food using two cards, a gift card and a debit card. After the gift card had gone through there was 4.21 left to pay while the receipt said that I had already paid 19.20. The cashier insisted that the amount paid was the amount due and vice versa. I got into a 20-minute argument with two members of the staff before they realized their mistake and corrected it with no kindness. Clearly the workers here cannot read English and do not know how to handle electronic payments. I'm never going back and I insist others to do the same. Their subpar Chinese food is not worth...
