Have gotten takeout in the past from here which was good and decided to eat in with a friend this week. A debacle of an experience!!
First, my friend asked the waitress if they cook with MSG cause they have an allergy to it. Waitress says no, with confidence! I donāt trust that answer and ask the 2nd waitress if they cook with it. She says āI donāt knowā. I ask her if she could please ask the chef and she does and comes back and announces āeverything we cook has MSG in it.ā Itās a good thing we double checked!
I ordered the papaya salad and had to choose a heat level. I asked for spice to be a level 2 (out of 5 on menu). It comes, I take a bite and itās SO fricken spicy itās inedible. I like spicy but my mouth and throat were on FIRE!!
Our waitress never checks on us and when we finally do get her attention she seems annoyed and put out. I tell the waitress my dish is too spicy and I canāt eat it and I need to order something else. She doesnāt even acknowledge the error as she takes my order and plops down the 2nd dish I ordered. And yes, we were charged for it.
The restaurant had people sprinkled throughout the bar and at tables both eating and drinking. 15 minutes before closing (8pm) they suddenly cranked up the music obnoxiously loud, Iām talking concert level- deafening- we couldnāt even hear each other talk. This goes on when all of a sudden at 8pm, the music abruptly shuts off and the waitresses start shouting out thatās itās time to leave because they are closing. People still had drinks and food in front of them and they literally kicked everyone out!
In disbelief, a bunch of us congregated in front outside and discussed the horrible service and rude treatment from the waitstaff. Everyone was saying āWTF just happened?ā The waitstaff clearly didnāt want to be there at any point in the night and showed it with horrible service and attitude and the way they shut that place down and threw people out.
If they donāt fire those girls and get better staff? Theyāll be out of business before the summer is over!
Needless to say we wonāt be back - ever!! And if I had not already paid our bill prior to getting kicked out.. they would have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'll start off by saying, I love the food here. No matter what it is delicious. It's my favorite place in town to order from when I feel like a treat. The pho is to die for. Reasonably priced, big portions, and the restaurant itself is clean and beautiful.
However, I will say that it is not very consistent. Which may be a problem if you or a loved one are a picky eater who likes to order the same dish over and over. For example, sometimes I get a pad thai that is properly sauced... sometimes it is really dry. The first time I ordered tom kha, it was disgusting. I had to throw it out. But recently I ordered it again and it was absolutely amazing. Other dishes have similar inconsistencies. But, even so the food is still yummy. (except that one tom kha).
Service is usually great, and the chef or owner himself is such a delight. I did have one issue though- one time we dined in, the bill was about $70 (including 20% tip), however when I got home, my card had been charged $90. I had the receipt and no where did it say where that extra $20 came from. I had to dispute with my bank to get it back. I don't know if the server just messed up or if it was malicious. I haven't had an issue since then- but I usually make someone else use their card to pay now, lol.
All things considered, I will keep eating here as long as it's good, but a few things could...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a hidden gem. Restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is amazing! I'll admit, being out in the middle of very rural suburbia I was wondering how good the food could be. Although I grew up in a small town that had amazing Vietnamese food and a McDonald's. Although a Thai restaurant one of my all time favorite dishes is Pho. I've had amazing Pho and Pho that was on the menu but not authentic. Looking at the menu the two that jumped out were the Pho Dac Biet (basically everything) and the Short-Rib Pho. I saw a picture of the Short-Rib Pho on a review and had to try it. When I judge Pho, I start with the broth. Is it homemade or commercial. Their's was homemade and made with love. The second thing I judge is do they cut the meat properly, almost paper thin. Their's was perfect. The Short-Rib was huge, meaty, tender and delicious. I've had the pleasure of eating at a Michelin Star Vietnamese restaurant in Miami and have had amazing Pho in the Boston area, Worcester MA, Springfield MA, Lowell as well as in Texas. This Pho is definitely legit. Up there with the best. I have my favorites just outside of Providence and I think that this might be the best in Rhode Island. It is just as good as the rest that I have had. I am excited to try their other dishes. This is...
