Discovered Mac's last week when driving through town and couldn't wait to give it a try. It's the pizza place I have been waiting for. Butler has a lot of pizza places, but none have stood out to me as a " You have to try this when you are town " until now. Last night we ordered 3 different pizzas: Pepperoni, Cheese (called something that starts with a M), and a white pizza. Pepperoni was my favorite, but they were all excellent. My only constructive criticism is to dial back the white pizza flavoring. it is a bit on the strong side. I called ahead for take out . They had the pizza ready within a few minutes of me arriving. the young lady that helped me was very pleasant (so refreshing to recieve a smile from the front counter these days) and knowledgeable on their cool building; letting me know the floors are from the 1930s when I commented on how they looked original. Great atmosphere and look forward to dining in when my newborn daughter is a bit older. Also, I thought the price point of around $10 per pizza was excellent. Looking forward to when my out-of-state in-laws visit this week so we can...
Read moreI have had pizza from all over the US and while living in Europe (Italy and Germany). The European pizza is the best because ALL of the ingredients are fresh and the flour isn't as heavy as in the U.S. which makes a perfect crust. There, pizza sauce is made fresh daily, veggies are freshly picked, and they make and use homemade mozzarella. It is then baked to perfection in brick ovens which brings out and combines the flavors of the ingredients perfectly. I gave up trying to find a pizza place in the U.S. let alone Butler, that can equal a European pizza. My daughter took me to Mac's for lunch. The oven is the first thing I saw when I walked in to my suprise. But when I took my first bite of pizza, the flavor hit me. Fresh melted mozzarella, combined with fresh basil and the perfect homemade tomato sauce. The pepperoni had that European brine flavor to it that made me pause and flashback to the days of sitting outside on a veranda in Germany while eating a flavorful pizza and drinking a good German beer or Italian wine. Those memories are perfection for me and so was my...

Macâs brick oven is a good compromise between cost and taste. Though they only offer 10-12 cut small pies they are very tasty! The crust in particular has a very pungent taste that you wouldnât get unless you hand made the dough as Macâs seem to do. In addition the staff is always friendly and very professional!
The selection is good but doesnât have everything to fit various tastes(pasta, limited sides) in addition, cooking can be slow during dinner rush with the single brick style oven.Drinks are also all bottled so the selection is small and no in house beverages or soda fountains are available. Lastly, with the nice summer sun it seems disappointing they donât have any outdoor seats set out(this might be due to some local regulations however).
Despite these shortcomings, Macâs brick oven is becoming one of my favorite pizza places in butler. I hope that these issues can be remedied as they get a steady flow...
