This could have been a wonderful place to dine had our first visit not been polluted by (no other way to describe it) vicious service. My handicapped MIL who has great difficulty with memory chose this place over every other restaurant that I read menus from in all of Butler (first time in Butler). It is definitely a popular place, so I do understand that it was very busy. We arrived a few minutes before 6pm and were seated very fast. Because MIL was past due for medications and over 30 min had passed and nobody had offered us drinks yet (we were visibly seated in front of the cashier and a few servers), I walked up to the counter to ask for water. When asked, I did state that we had not had anyone come to our table yet, at which point the server who was "up" jumped into frantic action stating loudly that she was not told she had a table. We were not upset that she had not taken our drink orders, we just needed water. No biggie? Apparently it was a big deal. From that point on she was worse than brusque. Several times she actually walked away while I was speaking to her. When she finally did take our food order, rather than listen to me explain that MIL wanted only soup and baked potato as her meal, she brought the soup out as an appetizer for her. Again, no big deal and I never corrected her because I truly have been in the position of waiting tables and being slammed. I can say honestly that in 52 years I have never ever had such rude "service" anywhere and I do mean anywhere. She was so rude that we decided not to get dessert, (not that it was offered) and we chose to order it online at the new greek place across town to pick up and take back to Wheeling. I am sure the lasagna would have been wonderful had it been brought to us when the order came up. When I was paying for our meals when asked how it was, for the first time ever I replied how bad it was. Normally, I just suck it up and write it off. Everyone else there was very polite and kind and we were offered a discount, which at least took a little of the ick factor off. It truly had potential to be a nice meal and a pleasant experience, but it was not. My MIL who has Alzheimer's actually remembers the rude server and has brought it up quite a few times over the last few weeks.since. I mean the new memory formed is kind of cool but the reason for the memory...
Read moreWe came here for the first time two weeks ago, we had a server that was absolutely terrible. She dropped our food off and never checked on us after that. Didn’t come back to make sure we were enjoying our food, didn’t come back to refill drinks. I had to ask a separate server, for our check. And then finally, this server came around and said she got “lost in the shuffle”…I’m a restaurant manager, so I watched her the entire time (Out of habit) and she was talking to and servicing every other table around, but us… And to be genuinely honest, we were the only non-Caucasian table in the entire restaurant… However, we had casual conversation with the owner while we were there, and he was amazing. The food was amazing. And the server that helped us close out was amazing. (We tipped well in cash; despite the bad service, in case she was stereotypical) We passed by again today; during Jeep fest and not only the owner, but his son were so welcoming and so amazing. They need to get rid of that one server that is very discriminating. Otherwise, this place is great. The food is great. Also; HUGE shout out to the kid that I tipped $3 to because; he ran inside to run my card and he shook my hand and thanked me immediately for the tip. That’s a grest and humble kid on your staff. The five stars are for this kid and the family that helped us today. Because of the family you have; we will...
Read moreThe only thing that was fair was the house salad. They served three slices of Italian bread cut in half that was not even toasted or crusty with four pats of frozen butter. The fried Northern mushrooms were like tempura mushrooms but which a much thinner batter. My daughter ordered a meatball wedge which was served as an open-ended sandwich with only one slice of bread even though it was an advertised or listed on the menu that way. I ordered a chicken parm because I thought the veal parm would be a small piece of meat I was shocked at how small my piece of chicken was considering they charged the dollar more than the veal parm. The chicken was smothered in a heavy sauce inundated with mushrooms and black olives slices and had no mozzarella cheese on it at all which I've never seen before as an Italian. The spaghetti that came with it was served cold with a lump of warm pizza sauce on it. My wife ordered the steak hoagie which was her opinion mediocre at best served with a handful of ruffles potato chips. The service was slow but the waitress was polite. Won't be going back...
