During me and my partners recent visit to restaurante Puersta del sol I encountered a mix of disappointments and minor delights. The restaurant boasts a charming location with outdoor seating that offers a serene view of the sea, a highlight that added to the ambience of our dining experience.
Unfortunately, our visit was marred by a significant delay in service. Initially, the kitchen misplaced our order, and although we were informed that it would take 15 minutes to prepare our meal, it ended up being a 25-minute wait. While delays can be understandable, especially in busy establishments, the lack of accurate communication was a bit frustrating.
We started with the sampler appetizer, which included a variety of fried items. However, the quality of the food was underwhelming. The fried corn lacked flavo and texture, and the fish empadilla had an unpleasantly oily texture. Although the cheese balls and fried fish tasted good, this was not the appetizing start we had hoped for.
The main course, a seafood platter, arrived with similar disappointment. The portion size was unexpectedly small, and like the appetizer, the dish tasted bland and oily. It did improve slightly with the addition of salt, but overall, it fell short of our expectations for a seafood dish.
On a positive note, our waitress was friendly and exhibited a pleasant demeanor throughout our meal. However, it was apparent that she might benefit from further training, as she seemed unsure about several questions we had regarding the menu.
An additional inconvenience was the restaurant's payment options – they do not accept Apple Pay, which was a bit surprising and limiting in today's digital age.
In conclusion, while the setting of the restaurant is undeniably lovely, the culinary and service aspects left much to be desired. It’s also not particularly cheap to eat ere to eat here The beautiful view almost compensates for the shortcomings, but I hope the restaurant takes this feedback as an opportunity to improve its service and...
Read moreIf I could leave negative stars I would. We came here on recommendation from family members with the added comment that they believed it may have been under new ownership. It is by far the WORST service we’ve EVER had, in any restaurant, anywhere we’ve travelled. Aside from, clearly not paying attention while taking our orders, he brought out our salads, left them on the table and never returned, after us requesting dressing. We had to go ask for silverware, salt, etc. and he still never brought the dressing. He brought out the French fries that go with the meal and said the rest of the dish would be right out. When we asked how much longer after another 30 minutes, he said, shortly. 20 minutes after that we asked, how much longer, since the fries were getting cold waiting for the plate, and were then told it would be another 40 minutes. There were 15 patrons in the restaurant other than the 6 of us. When we said to cancel the order after 2 hours waiting. He wanted to charge us for the half eaten fries and the side salads we never ate because he never brought the dressing. Don’t waste your time, don’t waste your money, and don’t waste your energy. There are so many other restaurants with great service and...
Read moreHorrible culinary experience. The first and only time I got food poisoning from a restaurant before in my life (Chicken Parm, how do you mess that up?). Destroyed my digestive system for about a week. We waited 2+ hours for below subpar food that we paid an unreasonable amount for but stuck around to eat because it was late at night and the restaurant we were originally going to eat at was closed. The “chefs” behind in the kitchen were a bunch of dudes who seemed more keen on catching up than cooking who didn’t care at all for sanitary business practices. The waiter was kind and apologetic, but that’s the only resembling quality sadly. I say this as a warning, do not eat here, the food is dangerous and taste like microwaved tv-dinners that cost a fraction of what the dish sadly cost me.
Stay away, might get you or a loved one...
