El Gatito — Restaurant in Cabo Rojo

A yearly tradition has come to an end after 15 years. My wife and I always come here for dinner with my parents while visiting from New Jersey. When we entered we waited to be seated for over 6-7 minutes, and the staff and servers just looked at us. There was only 3 tables occupied in the entrance area and 1 in the right dining area. My father finally asked an employee who had just entered the restaurant after delivering a curbside order, “are we getting attended or do we leave”?! The staff member stopped and looked at us and said, “Well then you can leave”!!! I was shocked of what we all just heard!!!!!! The male was very unprofessional and I’m sure the people there were also shocked of what he said. So needless to say this place will never have my recommendation to tourist ever again. Located in Joyuda. This restaurant has been around for years. Limited parking. Accessible parking available. From the moment we walked in, the staff appeared disinterested. The man who took our order didn't seem to enjoy what he was doing. Ordered empanadillas de camarones to start. As soon as we took a bite we knew these were canned shrimp and were not deveined 🤢🤮. We were told the fish filet was fresh. The fish filet was not fresh. It lacked flavor and it was dry. Very unappetizing and disappointing. The sorrullitos were super greasy and cold. Every year I come on vacation I always always go to El Gatito because it's good seafood, good environment, good in everything they did, however I went in today 8/20/20 right after I got off my flight from Fl to San Juan, I drove almost 3 hours to get there, I understand the Covid situation, that's good that they take precautions, but the gentleman that took care of us, just didn't want to be there, He was saggy, and just didn't walk to deal with us. Not once did he come to our table to ask if everything was okay.
