Asked once for Whipped creme, was served rancid and flat whipped creme.
Tried again another night - ordered the Turkey burger (1 hr later was served! Not a busy night - not ok) which is served with some kind of lemon spread - which is great, but when you have to ask 3 times for thousand island dressing and the waitress with glasses calls you rude, that’s when enough is enough. I have worked over 15 years in the restaurant industry, studied restaurant management and have the official title of “Restaurateur” from Germany and I have never, ever experienced something so appalling. Even after trying to reconcile with the bad service for the misunderstanding or miscommunication from all sides, I was yelled at, she clapped her hands like we’re are in the ghetto and I said just give me my bill, I will not come here again and you cannot speak to regulars like that.
After speaking to locals about this, seems to be a common trend, not only that but people get food poisoning here. Reported to health department - Will not be coming here again and spending my hard earned money on horrible dining experiences. To be clear I reported to the health department because of my experience with the whipped creme 3 months prior, not the lentil soup in which another regular, the same day got food poisoning from. Customer is not king here. - which sucks. Other waitress Monique is a GEM. Thank you for being so kind and packing up the burger to-go. Sorry I did not take it, after that while experience I had lost my appetite. Positive note: they have a great menu, the wine menu is excellent and they have great Happy Hour options.
I was appreciative of the bistro, but bad service is bad Service, and a response like the one below is nothing less than expected from and establishment such as this, especially when I stated to this waitress that I was going to address this with the owner. I waited three weeks to think about how I could write this so that, you, the owner, would take this into consideration to address this, not to get her “in trouble” but rather when a customer asks for thousand island, inform your waiting staff to just bring a side of thousand island. I don’t need extra and questions such as “well which burger did you have?” And “well that burger come with lemon spread” - yes I know that, I ordered that burger and explicitly ordered with a side of thousand island. It wasn’t there so I asked for it again and requested it once again. Please note, there was no one else sitting in the bar with me besides my friend who was drinking a...
Read moreMake a reservation because Canyon Bistro can get crowded. It is the best place we have been to in Topanga. Some of the other places were just terrible or average. But this is the place to go. We loved it. We loved everything about it and we will be back.
Parking is not fun, but they have valet. Do that.
The place is really pretty and very clean. You can dine inside or out. We prefer being inside. We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time and the front desk staff is lovely.
They have a full bar, but we did not partake so I can't speak to that.
The place is just calm and relaxing. The staff is great. They are very nice and will guide you through the menu if you want. They check on you and make sure you are happy.
We loved all our food and shared it all. For starters we had Cajun calamari which was so good. It is spicy, but not too spicy. We also tried their grilled artichoke which had a wonderful flavor of lemon and garlic. Just wow!
We loved the Caesar salad. It was so fresh, chilled and crisp. We had an entire bowl of mussels with garlic bread and the sauce it was all cooked in was amazing.
For our mains we shared the salmon and the ribeye. Cooked to perfection and they have a wonderful choice of sides. We had garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. The garlic mashed was so good. I don't care for spinach usually, so I left that one alone. It was gone in a flash and we were so full, we had no room for dessert.
All of it was wonderful, the service was so nice and we had...
Read moreI took my wife to Canyon Bistro for her birthday because we both love it and have previously chosen to have our birthday or anniversary dinners here. The food is delicious, and the staff are so very good.
Had a delicious balsamic dressing on top of a Bistro Salad appetizer for the perfect starter. Feeling particularly carnivorous, we both ordered the huge, grass-fed House Burger, which were both cooked to perfection, perfectly rare for me, perfect medium for her. Complemented with superb wine, and that was it. Fantastic dinner.
Something needs to be said for the consistency of the kitchen. I know I can expect a rare burger when I ask for one, as can my wife for her medium. It’s always the same, and there’s a bunch of you who probably share the credit for that, so kudos and thank you. It’s a critical factor that greatly impacts this review, as I’m sure it does those of others, and consistency is everything, believe me.
Morgan, our gregarious, wonderful, and attentive server, was the proverbial icing on the cake. Always there, right when you need her, so personable, thoughtful, and likable, a natural professional. She’s a credit to your reputation, so don’t lose her. Thank you, Morgan!
All in all, it was a fantastic evening, so thank you, all of you, at...
