I had a very disappointing experience at this Starbucks today that left me feeling singled out and unwelcome.
I came in to work for a few hours while in town for my sister’s baby’s arrival. I have a very small emotional support animal (about the size of my hand) who stays fully enclosed in a zipped travel bag at the very bottom of my stroller, with breathable mesh windows. He remains inside the entire time, quiet and contained, you wouldn’t even know he was there.
After a long stretch of meetings, I took him out for about 30 seconds just to pet him and take a mental health break before placing him back in his bag. A Starbucks employee approached me and said, “I’m sorry, but we don’t allow animals in here.” I immediately apologized, asked briefly if ESAs were allowed, but told her I would put him away and wouldn’t take him out again. She said nothing further, simply walked away, so I assumed the matter was resolved.
About 15 minutes later, I accidentally cut my finger and went to the counter to ask for a Band-Aid. While waiting, the same employee abruptly turned to me and said, “So you know, ESA dogs aren’t allowed, and if you come back here with your dog we will report you.”
This was shocking and unnecessary. I was never asked to leave, and after I complied by putting him away, there was no indication there was still an issue. To threaten to “report” me after I had already followed instructions created an unnecessarily hostile and uncomfortable situation.
I completely understand health code rules, but this interaction was handled rudely and unprofessionally. Especially considering I was not combative, defensive, or rude when approached. A simple, clear conversation would have been appropriate...this felt like being scolded and humiliated for no reason. I am here for two weeks and planned to come in each morning for breakfast and to answer emails, but I won't ever be returning, with or...
Read moreI am always very happy with this location, it’s close to home and convenient. I don’t mind waiting for my Mobil order not being ready when I get there despite getting the text it’s ready for pick up. I’m patient, I work busy retail and I get it. Today I went to pick up my Mobil order, it didn’t look right, (very dark and I ask for extra splash of half and half). I say good morning, can you tell me if this has extra cream? It looks a little dark(it was almost black) the drink is grabbed out of my hand and before I can even just ask for cream to be added, she dumps it out saying “I didn’t make this how would I know, I’ll make it over” I say thank you and ask if she can use the same cup to which she ignores me so I say it again. She makes it over but is very angry for some reason. She puts it down and walks away, I say I’m sorry I made you angry, this looks good. My response from her? She rolls her eyes, scoffs, and turns around. I was going to let it go but then was like I just paid $7 for a drink order at least 5 times a week and get attitude and rudeness. I call on my way to work. Anna answered and said the manager was to busy to talk to me, I’m sorry? “She’s busy doing other things and is to busy to talk to you” oh ok. I say wow that’s very rude. This has quickly become my favorite location and I know everyone has bad days but come on. Hopefully they don’t treat...

Updated Review - 9/24/23: We ordered our coffee with the Starbucks app and when we got there, we walked in the store. Today it seemed faster than the drive-thru. It was sitting in the counter when we walked in. We love using the Starbucks app. It makes it so much easier to order ahead... And it is always ready to go! Updated Review - 4/8/23: Once again... I want to know who did the site plan and layout of the parking lot and buildings on this property. They put a Starbucks and an O&H Danish Bakery... Two of the busiest places in Racine... on a piece of land that would normally hold one of these businesses. I am surprised that there are not more cars getting dented or people getting hurt. It is way too tight! But the coffee is good... And the service is helpful and friendly. I love Starbucks... so I will give them 4 stars! My Starbucks order was great…. but the reason I am giving this location only 2 stars is the drive thru is always packed and the parking lot is the size of a postage stamp. I want to know who designed this location. Why would anyone put an O&H Bakery and a Starbucks where they both share a small...
