Carla's Drive In — Restaurant in California

Carla's hasn't changed much in at least 10 years. They have an absolutely delicious pastrami and their burgers are tasty. They have massive portions of French fries. They are the only place I've seen in Bakersfield that serves an American taco. As in seasoned ground beef, cheddar... something you'd find on your family's menu in Oildale. They're on the greasy side, but they're different. They remind me of home cooking and I order them often when dining here. As any good Oildale staple should they accept phone-in orders. Best of all, and unbelievably for most, they deliver to you for a small fee. Yes. You call in and they will bring your entire meal to your house, drinks and all. They have family business hours, so they're not open all night but I love that.

Do yourself a favor and order a pastrami, some fries and a cherry pepsi from Carla's. Be lazy for a day and have it delivered. You won't regret it. In fact, you'll do it...

Soo I don't know how this worked out but the woman that ordered her food three people behind me and double what I ordered got her food before me and to top it off my food was cold!!! You could possibly say slightly luke warm but by the time I got back to work which is only 2 blocks down from them it was cold .....Ooh to the 3 cooks when someone orders something not on there food it's only for 2 reasons first is there allergic to it or the second reason they don't like it and don't want it !!!! To be so thoughtless to put the item on there then simply remove it leaving behind the not wanted food particles !!! What if I was allergic to it !!! You could have potentially caused me to have an allergic reaction or even worse killed me !!!! Some people in this world are that severely allergic to things think before...

Great old-fashioned drive-in that was designed for carhop service, but no longer does that. Been there for decades, but has added a drive-thru. Phone orders are willingly taken, or you can walk up to the front window to oder. Older people, including the current owner were working the day we went. Friendly and helpful they were. One customer said she had been coming there since her high school days; she lives the food. Fries are fat old-fashioned crinkle cut. Our food was very good; we wanted to go back there. Since I own an old- fashioned drive-in in Oregon that has been in my family for almost sixty yrs, I believe I can honestly rate this place. Just drove by Carla's since it is near where we were staying and something told me we needed to check Carla's out. Sure...
