El Efectibo Mexican Food — Restaurant in California

Don’t let the looks fool you. The food fantastic. My co-worker said it is the best tacos is Bakersfield. I had my doubts, especially when walking into the El Efectibo, but one bite into the bigger than normal handmade tortillas, you will see that this is a contender for one of the best tacos in Bakersfield.

Tacos are packed with meat. No fat was to be found in my taco. Well seasoned, and tender. The meat was soft and not chewy. I also had a fish taco. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t order it again.

It was a cold winter Bakersfield day, the cement floors do not help. But the service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.

I was looking forward to eating here with my family for the first time, but was a bit upset when the waitress took 15 minutes to come over where we were sitting to barely hand us the menu's and ask us what we would like to drink. Also, the food was brought out to us pretty quickly, but it was cold and the meat was really dry. The rice and beans tasted like they had been sitting there all day and were just quickly heated up. My only complaint - As soon as my friend and I entered, a couple employees, both ladies, made a couple rude comments to each other about us in Spanish. I'm guessing they assumed we wouldn't understand them. I felt that it was pretty unprofessional and unwelcoming. Although I won't be returning, the other staff we came across were all friendly and helpful.
