TL;DR, not a steakhouse. First time trying this "steakhouse" with my son and they really missed the mark. It was a Saturday night and not too busy, conditions that you think would mean they bring the A game. The crab cake appetizer was good as were the flat grilled garlic bread slices. But his medium rare prime rib came out extra well done, and my medium rare ribeye came out medium well. His was close to inedible and mine was just a disappointment. For a place claiming to be a steakhouse, not understanding how to actually cook a steak is a show stopper. In terms of cut, I don't know how thick or what weight my 14 oz ribeye was before it was murdered, but it was only about half an inch thick when served and weighed about ten ounces. The server was nice and fairly quick, but did forget to bring soup ahead of mains and it didn't come until we reminded her. In terms of atmosphere, Parking was a little sketchy despite the fact that the restaurant was not busy. There was a steady stream of tweakers headed to the adjacent liquor store and I did worry about my vehicle. The music was a bit loud for a steakhouse and was about 90% mariachi, 10% country. The table wobbled enough that the overfilled soda spilled, but the beer came cold and quick. We spent about 50 bucks per person overall before tip. We didn't send the food back, mainly because there's no point if they think that's acceptable. Given the number of good steakhouses in Modesto, this place is 86'd.

I've been there twice this month. The first time I got fish and chips and it was amazing. Service was great. Second time I got ribs and baked potato and a sirloin steak... Umm... The ribs were delicious and tender falling off the bone.. the potato was actually spectacular... The steak took almost an hour and 3 tries..I asked for medium rare..first time it was well and then some.. second time it was rare to blue inside and crunchy outside.. the third simply got boxed cause everyone had already finished dinner and I wasn't going to hold things up... But it was done right.šŸ‘ŒšŸ‘ Service has always been excellent!! The atmosphere has potential to be great... It's the clientele.. the one or two loud mouths or parolee types that make it more a bar with grill rather than a genuine family restaurant... I know they are working on that and I appreciate that... Overall I recommend it and will go again...

Walked in the front door, smells like a dirty public restroom. Don't know if the sewer is having issues, or they just don't have a air freshener, or what...but it smelled like a public urinal. šŸ¤” bummed me out. Was thinking about lobster and/or steak but the smell didn't make me want to hang out to long. Chose to sit in the bar. Clearly a neighborhood hang. Everyone was nice. The jukebox was playing some weird stuff but you could tell everyone was into it, so maybe it's the regular playlist. After a couple beers I forgot about the smell, until I left. Joanna was great. Glad I sat in the bar. Would like to try the lobster, but going to give them a while to fix the sewer thing.. maybe next time.

Sooo....the visit started off great! Sat ourselves and order drinks from the bar. Ordered the bursting onion for the appetizer. Both came out quickly and were excellent....then we ordered dinner. Before I ordered my steak, I asked if they had Heinze 57 sauce and was told "yes", because if NOT, I'd order something else. My husband and I both ordered steaks. Because of previous reviews, I knew they had a problem with cooking steaks to the correct doneness..I ordered "medium" hoping to get "medium well". NOPE...came out "well done". My husband ordered "rare" thinking they possibly couldn't get that wrong. NOPE..."medium well" with a few pink rare spots, so cooked very unevenly. A common complaint in previous reviews- "a steakhouse that doesn't know how to cook steaks", is still true. Oh, and when I asked for the 57 sauce, our waitress points to the A1 and says "here it is" , "NO IT'S NOT MA'AM, that's A1, not 57 sauce". A waitress, in a steakhouse, that doesn't know the difference between the two...sad. Almost forgot, seasonal vegetables were probably supposed to be steamed, were just heated up, but still VERY raw. I kept them to dip in ranch later šŸ˜…. Baked potato comes loaded-good. Mashed potatoes more like smashed potatoes-very lumpy, thick, not smooth or creamy. Waitress never checked on us. We had to call her over EVERY time we needed anything. Atmosphere-Loud because everyone sounded like they were having a great time, on a Friday night, in the bar, with a great happy hour and good music...we should have went in there and bypassed dinner and got drinks and...

I recently went in for a Mothers day brunch the food and service were great. Until low and behold a Karen and Darren (couple) made a huge seen embarrasing themselves. They kept saying that they only had to pay for mimosas and the buffet was free. Which was not the case the banner outside the sign on the door and inside indicated the price of buffet and mothers drink free mimosas. After reading the review of Mr. Austin, I am sure he is the Darren I am talking about. Karen was screaming in the restaraunt that she did not want to pay, because I'm sure this is how they go around town getting free meals. As for the food not being up to par, well I beg to differ as karen and darren had seconds with multiple rounds of mimosas. They had a wide variety of delicious food and desserts like. I was sitting near where the karen was making a scene and I will have you know that no one was being racist. I am German/Irish and have frequented there quite often because of the great food and service. No one has ever made me think or feel like this was a racist establishment. I think karen and darren are the racist ones. It is really sad when people like this try to dismiss the hard work of the cooks and servers by throwing a tantrum because they are used to going around and making a scene to get...
