I've been eating here for years, the people that own the place are very nice and the food has always been delicious. If you don't have any food allergies, I highly recommend this place. However, I'm taking off 1 star because I was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy and today I came in for lunch with my work friends and nobody at the restaurant understood what a gluten allergy even is. Thai food is mostly, naturally gluten free, with the biggest offenders being soy sauce and maybe oyster sauce because they add wheat to thicken it. I tried to order the mango sticky rice and asked if they used any wheat flour to thicken the sticky rice and the server just said that I have too many allergies (I have one allergy) and that it's not safe for me to eat and she didn't want to deal with me getting sick. I asked to see the ingredients on the box or the package of the Thai tea mix they use to make Thai iced tea, and they declined to show me the ingredients and said I should just stick with water. So today, I drank water while all my work friends ate lunch. On one hand, I really appreciate them saying "I don't know if this is safe so you shouldn't order it". It's much better for me to go hungry than get sick from accidently eating something with gluten, so I do really appreciate that. But. I didn't get to eat anything and nobody was willing to just show me the ingredients on the Thai tea box. I know that not everyone is familar with gluten allergies, but I could have easily read the ingredients myself and told them if it was safe or not. I wish they would take the time to understand what a gluten allergy means and take a moment to add allergy flags to the menu. That way I would have been able to eat at least something...
Read moreThese guys are fantastic. For starters the food is excellent. If you like quality and authentic Thai food, this is the place to go.
They are busy every day, and the place is small, so I recommend going in off hours if you can (12:45pm on weekdays is actually pretty good, because the work/lunch crowd thins out at this time.)
Recently I had an issue with a Take Out order. I placed it in house during a big rush period (11:55am) and I waited...and waited...and waited. Finally the hostess/waitress realized my single small order had not come out. Turns out they dropped the ticket --frustrating! But not the end of the world - stuff happens. The super nice girl gave me a free Thai Ice Tea while they rushed the order...
I took the order back to work, only to find out they left out a key ingredient - the chicken!! (This happened because I ordered garlic pepper chicken with extra veggies...and that must have translated verbally as "just veggies" -- annoyed, I called them and told the girl. She was incredibly nice and told me the next meal would be on the house. I ate my garlic pepper VEGGIES, and I realized the flavor is so good I barely noticed the missing chicken! (Not sure about you, but ordinarily meat is an ESSENTIAL ingredient for me.)
I returned two days later, called ahead and was pleased that the super-nice girl remembered me. They had my order ready in 15 min, everything correct, and they gave me a free soda along with the free meal. FANTASTIC customer service - definitely will be going back again and again.
Can't recommend strongly enough. (I don't normally "review" places, but with the recent experience here I had to let folks know...) This...
Read moreUPDATE: been here several times since the first time and the quality of the food and customer service have only gotten better, if anything. Great family atmosphere, flavorful food, and attentive and caring staff. In particular, 4 level spicy definitely gave me my money's worth. I feel like other places it hasn't always been the case. It was some of my friends' first time at House of Thai and other friends' first time trying certain dishes and they all loved it too. From the chicken green curry to the beef drunken noodles and fish curry, every dish was amazing. Anyways, to the owners and staff, keep up the amazing work and live long and good health to you 😊
Original in 2019 This is truly a gem of a place. I wish I got the names of the workers but they were all great. Will definitely be back for more. Had the beef drunken noodles medium hot and split an appetizer of fresh spring rolls with chicken and mushrooms, house made by one of the ladies working there. She stopped by, making sure everything tasted great. For dessert I tried the fried banana with coconut ice cream and had hot ginger tea to drink. Everything was delicious, fresh, and didn't leave me stuffed, but comfortably full. Reasonable prices and excellent customer service. I came in around lunch time and it was packed but not super loud so you can have a nice conversation with your meal (well, during your meal but not with your mouth full, you get the idea). Overall a great establishment that I hope to explore further with their curries and other drinks...
